Quantum Leap Goliath from EastWest is a virtual instrument featuring 40GB of content, including 180 instruments and over 600 patches of instruments, soundscapes and textures, all powered by the integrated EastWest PLAY engine. The sound content includes the entire 32GB library from Quantum Leap's Colossus that is perfectly suited to songwriting, film scoring, multi-media production, in the studio or on stage, and covers all the basic needs of audio production.
The additional 8GB comes from other EastWest libraries, including the full version of the PMI Bosendorfer 290 Piano. In all, the entire collection includes drums and percussion, guitars, basses, acoustic and electric pianos, keyboards and mallets, pop brass, orchestral instruments, choirs and vocals, ethnic instruments, new age ensembles, morphing atmospheres, synthesizer basses, leads and pads.

Comments about EastWest Quantum Leap Goliath - Virtual Instrument:
40 gigs of samples:
very good pianos, synth pads with sound morphing (triggered by mod). Includes pop: guitars, basses, saxophones (sop, alto, ten, bari) trumpets, trombone, with multiple articulations, GM set, and an orchestra set.
PLAY (sample engine) includes reverb, delay, and doubling effects.
Takes about 3 hours to install (six DVDs).
RTAS, VST, and stand alone.
Overall samples are very good value. Instruments with multiple articulations (pop brass etc.) are most flexible. Orchestra set (standard orch instruments) has no key switching, and few articulations (expressive, staccato--typically). PLAY engine reverb is also very good.Very easy to use--be sure to download PLAY update for OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I've been using PLAY with PT 8--and there are some buggy issues, but overall it works well when you know what to expect. Instruments when used in ensemble sound "good" together (even when individual samples do not seem as true to the actual instrument), PLAY reverbs may be different for each instrument which is a great plus for developing a more realistic sense of "space" for larger instrumental works. Overall the set does what it says it will do and performs as expected. Documentation is good, but succinct. Have about 10 hours of use and expect to mine more "treasure" from the collection. Good value for the price.
