Bushnell gets you up close and personal with the great outdoors with their diverse world of precision optics and outdoor technologies. Every Bushnell optic is the direct result of extensive research and design.

Investigating what goes 'bump-in-the-night' with Bushnell's NightWatch 4x50 night vision monocular can be quite exhilarating. This lightweight waterproof NVD provides the power of sight without light in a handy ergonomic form factor.

With its sleek yet rugged housing, 4x magnification, large 50mm objective lens, and built in IR illuminator, The NightWatch monocular is an excellent choice for camping, caving, wildlife observation, surveillance. or any time and place you think you're ready to experience the secrets of the dark first hand.

There are many different variables that affect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and the method of calculation varies by manufacturer. The important factors to consider when evaluating any night vision device are the intensifier tube's generation, s/n ratio, level of magnification, specified resolution, along with the clarity & light transmission efficiency of the optical system.

All night vision devices sold by B&H have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. No matter what, bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of image intensifier tubes.

Comments about Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular:

I first bought the night vision monocular 4x50 Bushnell for night surveillance on my land. First, a glimmer, even the most distant light, is sufficient to affect the operation of the telescope. Second, the IR illuminator is powerful enough to blind you, only if you dare to look at your feet in a wardrobe, otherwise it is not powerful enough. According to the manufacturer, with ¼ of the moon, you should easily recognize a human form at 700ft, however you can rely on my experience, you will not even recognize a bull charging straight at you at 200ft. It seems designed only for budding cavers. Of course, 50 feet under, the night is full and you can explore on your own all the qualities of that night vision device. But since I have no time to waste at such depths, I can assure you that after a couple of hours of testing Monocular Bushnell Night Vision 4x50, it returned early in its box and was returned[...]

Comments about Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular:

this product performs as advertised. Provides a reasonable night vision image but remember this is a first generation device. Without use of the IR illuminator, it is certainly not as easy to see images but they can be seen. Turn on the IR and day becomes night (well almost).

Comments about Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular:

I use the NightWatch for Law Enforcement. I was somewhat hesitant about purchasing it because I did not expect to get good night vision equipment in that price range. I was happily surprised.
The image quality has been very good and they are simple to use.
The downside is they can be slow to focus, especially in very cold weather.

Comments about Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular:

I recently purchased the Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular for my wife. She asked for a nightvision device for her birthday (yeah, she's weird that way...)

She uses the NightWatch to see what's making our outside dogs bark at night. Before, she would sneak around the woods with a flashlight. Now she can just look through the bedroom window in the middle of the night to see what the coyotes, deer, moose and raccoons are doing to rile the dogs.

She also uses it to keep tabs on people who park at the end of our cul de sac at night, in addition to snooping on whoever is talking a midnight stroll down our private road in the woods.

The NightWatch is very easy to use and works well for our application (viewing through the woods and across a field within about 100 yards.) The image is bright, clear enough and the IR feature is great. I am impressed with how simple it is to use.

I am sure that the NightWatch 4x50 not as powerful or clear as a later generation nightvision device, but it didn't cost $1,000+ either.

We are very happy with the Bushnell NightWatch 4x50 Night Vision Monocular. The coyotes, moose and neighbors now have no privacy... even at night.
