Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
I live near Yosemite National Park, a photographer`s paradise. Because of the rugged terrain, I needed a pack to carry my SLR and equipment safely. This pack is perfect for that. Also, the fact that it is water resistant and completely padded on the inside is a bonus. All the extra compartments for storing lenses, batteries and data cards are cool, too. I really love this back pack!

Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
Great little day bag for my Nikon D7000, couple lenses, stick (thoughtful exterior storage), netbook computer, numerous filters, cleaning gear, batteries, charger, MBD11 batt pack, all sorts of separate pouches for smaller items. Durable construction, comfortable to wear. I have a smaller Tamrac I bought 5yrs ago, lots of use, still like new; great quality; no question I was getting another Tamrac. Only negative is that i could not attach my camera to the 200-500mm lens and store.

Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
I bought for a long trip. Comfortably held: 1 camera body (d4) with 70-200 attached (the fit was tight as I have to remove a 1.4 TC from the lens in order to fit), a 1.4 TC, a 14-24 zoom, a 24 mm lens, the charger for the camera (which is big). I could have shoved in one more small to med lens but didn't want to carry anything else. The external pocks work well for memory cards, lens pen, gray card, iphone charger, headphones, etc. The lower pocket held my extra battery and a filter. The larger sleeve pocket holds an iPad very nicely. I used one day in the rain for hours and nothing got wet - but I took great care to use the zipper cover tied down. As comfortable as one could expect to wear. Easy to carry on airplanes. I had to set on the ground to open and access equipment as it would be very easy to open and have something fall out. Happy with purchase.

Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
I was looking for backpack to carry my Canon 7D and 70-200mm lens attached. My biggest concern is I am only 4'10" tall so I did not want a back pack that would be huge against my petite frame but yet it had to be big enough to hold my 7D and 70-200 lens attached. This Velocity Expedition 4X backpack is perfect. It can hold a lot including at least three extra lens, flash, batteries, travel tripod, etc. And there is still room to store your cell phone, ipod, car keys. If you need to haul more equipment than that then you should be looking for a bigger backpack. The quality is excellent and there is lots of padding to protect your equipment.
Another bag I purchased for a daily bag when I only need my camera is the Tamrac Velocity 8X Sling pack. It holds my 7D and 70-200 lens attached with room for a few items (extra batteries, flash). And it is easy to access as long as you do not overstuff the bag. You could hold an extra lens if you really had too. But that kind of defeated the purpose of why I like the sling.
The size of the both the backpack and sling are perfect for my small frame. The Expedition 4X backpack looks like a normal size pack on me. But, if you were 5'6 or 6' it would probably feel like a very nice mini-pack to you. Both the Velocity 8x Sling Pack (if you don't try to overstuff it) and the Expedition 4X Backpack can both easily be used for a day bag depending what you need to take with you. And both can be used for a day hike or even more extreme hiking.
I did not have any negative feedback about this backpack.

Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
I purchased this size Tamrac, since I already have an Ex 5x, and sometimes I don't need something quite that big. With the 4x, I can load it with one of my digital bodies, a 70-200 zoom, and 3 other lenses as well as my flash. This is a perfect "single system" size, as well as being easier to carry and fit into overhead luggage storage on airliners. I also have the option of adding a notepad if I should so desire. it's snug, but it fits. I also have the option of adding additional lenses and equipment externally using external pouches.

I am a professional photographer but I use this backpack for my camera for traveling and vacations. I have a Canon T3i, Two lenses, Speedlight, Light Sphere, chargers, batteries, tripod and assorted other toys. Everything fits and is easily accessible. It is much smaller and lighter than the one I use for work and is perfect for vacationing.

Bought this backpack to use for single camera shoots where I didn't want to carry a lot of equipment and wanted a light load. It fits the bill great. I have also used it to for my assistant to carry extra equipment in.
Love the backpack !

of all the camera bags i've had, this is by far my favorite. the only issue i have with it are the zippers. perhaps it's just me, but i find them difficult to operate. other than that, i highly recommend this bag.

big enough for a body and several lens. Outside pockets are good for extra items, although the zippers can be a little hard to fully open.

Comments about Tamrac 5584 Expedition 4x Backpack:
I own a lot of photography equipment. I first bought a bag to small, then one so big it is hard to carry when full.
This bag I purchased to use as a day bag when I need a limited about of equipment.
If you have a camera and 2 or 3 small lenses, this bag will work. I have two cameras and a number of heavy, large L lense's.
So for me it is a day bag.
It has moisture proof zippers, pockets for memory cards, etc as well as for a dvd or in my case, Epson P2000 storage unit. Can be reconfigured and is well padded. My other bags are Lowepro but I have to say the Tamrac is very well made and a good value for the price.
