Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
I needed this little jewel to clamp my Rode video mic off camera away from the sounds I might make adjusting the tripod while video taping an event. I had to rig something different because I didn't have this adapter. Next time, I'm prepared for anything. I now have three of these 1/4 20 to 3/8 adapters.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
It works great but I must have tightened it a little too much and the male end snaped off. I'd recommend buying a spare one just incase.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
Not much to say about this other than it does what you'd expect it to. It allows you to screw a 1/4"-20 thread male item into a 3/8" female receptacle. This is a handy gizmo for adding items to a rig when your threads don't match. Carved from solid brass, the fit and finish is very good.
My only suggestion would be to include a rubber washer, as metal to metal contact, especially with different metals, can become too tight to unscrew by hand.

These are extremely useful for mounting microphone hardware to standard photo 1/4 inch stands. These by Manfrotto are very good quality and less expensive than some no-name branded ones. Bought with confidence from B&H and was not disappointed.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
I bought 3 of these (1 as a spare) as accessories for my Manfrotto 504HD video head. The 504HD has two 3/8" holes manchined into both sides of the head. I wanted to be able to convert those 3/8" holes to 1/4" holes for use with my Flashpoint 7" and 11" articulating arms to hold my portable audio recorder, a loupe and a future 7" monitor purchase.
Great quality, nice brass/gold color and the machined surface ridges provide a nice grip when tightening and loosening the adapter.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
While there may not be a great deal to say about a threaded adapter, at least I can say it works well. I record live music and most of the stands I use have a 3/8ths thread to which I attach a 5/8ths adapter. Occasionally I use a stand or have a tread that has the 1/4 inch adapter. This item allows me to easily convert to 3/8ths and keep everything consistent. That way most of my 5/8th items already have the 3/8th to 5/8th adapter attached, so I can easily put everything together the way I like it. The thread is designed to easily grip and while if tight I need pliers to twist, it is very easy to work with.

I have a combo stand that I often use to hold a microphone. I have two shock mounts for my mics, one which has a 1/4-20 thread pattern and one a 3/8". This adapter allows me to switch quickly between mounts. Best of all it stores in the 3/8" threaded hole on top of my Manfrotto tripod fluid head and so is always handy.

it is always important to have buys well made adapters instead of cheap knock-offs, the threads on all camera equipment is usually industrial grade, you need to keep it that way, good price and reliability.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
This part works well and is very well made - sturdy brass or brass-like material. The knurling helps with tightening and loosening the adapter.
One very minor issue is the same with most of Manfrotto's accessories, they don't like to clean their products. Consequently, the first thing you have to do with all of their products is de-grease them so this stuff doesn't get onto your nice clean (expensive) gear.

Comments about Manfrotto 088 Female 1/4-20 to Male 3/8" Thread Adapter:
I recently bought a light stand and boom arm which i use when i dont have a boom mic operator. I affix my Rode mic to a rode PG-1 pistol grip which has a 3/8" thread. My boom arm however, didn't have a compatible thread so i needed this adapter to solve that problem. Now the PG-1 fits on the boom arm no problem and allows for a very professional boom mic setup via the lightstand. Plus for just like [$], not bad at all i'd say.
