I had previously purchased a softbox & speedring adapter and I wanted to mount that on my tripod instead of buy another lightstand. This spigot was exactly what I needed so that I could attach my softbox to the tripod.

I got a few of these to mount to some umbrella brackets to clamps allowing placement of small off camera flashes in places where a light stnad cannot go. They are of good Manfrotto quality and not too badly priced. Overall a good buy.

Comments about Manfrotto 119 Short (16mm) Adapter Spigot with 1/4"-20 & 3/8" Female Threads:
THere are 2 schools of thought with spigots. The Lowel, Avenger etc, (more pro film biz) ones are the full 5/8 inch wide all the way, with a slightly thinner rebated section to securely hold fittings in place.
Then there is the Manfrotto with a much bigger rebate, and a flattened off section to screw onto which stops your light or whatever from rotating on top of the stand. None of which you can see from the photo!
This spigot works great... there are cheap copies which are 1 mm smaller with no flat section and believe me it makes a difference. I kind of prefer the larger design of the lowel/mole/avenger/matthews because there are not so many turns to bolt a light on to it, it is quicker and feels more secure. But these spigots are great and will last a lifetime

I bought this to build a DYI adapter for my PCB lighting accessories. Build quality is good; it one of the side is flat for easier tightening. Price isn't bad either.

Comments about Manfrotto 119 Short (16mm) Adapter Spigot with 1/4"-20 & 3/8" Female Threads:
If you are trying to make a light stand out of a tripod, this is the right adapter for the job. Also works great with monopods and anything else that uses the standard size threads found on tripods and tripod plates. Not much else to say other than the construction is solid and one side of the middle section has a flat surface that keeps your lights (or whatever) held secure.

Comments about Manfrotto 119 Short (16mm) Adapter Spigot with 1/4"-20 & 3/8" Female Threads:
This spigot adapter will allow the mounting of the Lowel Pro Light to 2009 and earlier stands manufactured and branded as Impact. The spigot tip to older Impact stands were slightly non-standard and Lowel Pro Lights and similar devices did not properly and securely mount.
