I haven't used this mic all that much, but it does record quality sound. I shot a music video in the wind the other day and the voices still came through. It would work best on a boom because it needs to be close to the subject talking. Mounting it on-camera makes for hard-to-hear sound. It also pics up a lot of sound from your hand while holding the camera.
It's a pretty good starter mic. I use it with my HMC150 and it's great, and it's a lot better than the thing on the camera that Panasonic likes to call a microphone

I plugged this unit out of the box into my HPX170 and immediately tested it out. It is unidirectional so it does a good job of focusing on an audio source 1-12 feet or so away from the camera while diminishing unwanted background noise. The audio is clear and professional sounding. The windscreen works pretty well too.
I put the mix directly onto my HPX, so I've found that the cord is way too long and cumbersome. I have to tie it up and to the camera, and this causes it to wiggle around if I have to move the camera a lot during the shot. A minor drawback. It is a phantom powered mic, so I am not sure how it will do on a microphone boom pole.
Overall, its great for the price.

I have never bought this brand before but I was looking at the price and the specs. I received the mic and put it to work, up against the better more expensive mics I own. I am pleased to say that I find I have made a good purchase, the response and directional properties are just fine for the use I have, I would gladly buy this brand again.

I got the MC-70 for my Panasonic AG-HMC150 and I was surprised at the length of the cable for a camera mounted mike. Also the XLR connector sticks out so much it will not go in the Petrol case without removing the XLR Connector each time. What a pain. Now I have to rewire it with a shorter cable and an angled XLR connector to make it fit in the case.
They should come up with a better design for the 150 which is a great little camera for the money.

on my ag-dvc60 camcorder the on/board mic is absolutley useless . i added the mc70 and walla it picks up great, especially when you zoom in at those dinner table interviews during the reception, and if the dj or the band has it cranked up. it's the one they should have installed on the camera in the beginning. (why don't those designers ask us what we need on our equipment to start with?) get one if you have the same problems i did. by the way nothing is 5 stars.
