I returned this soon after it arrived. I am giving it 4 stars because it is well made and will protect your camera from sand, water and dust. It's concept is similar to the dry bags I use to protect my gear in a canoe. You insert the camera in the case, roll the top over several times and secure it. I ordered it before there were any reviews. Hope this will help others make an informed purchase. Once the camera is in the case, it was too difficult to change the settings on my Nikon D80. There are channels for you to insert a finger on each side to access the camera. It is only practical to release the shutter with your finger in one of the channels. Additionally, I could not zoom my lens nor change any of the lens' settings. In short it is too cumbersome to do anything but point and shoot. It is appropriate in situations where you and your camera are in sand, water or dust. No one wants a dead camera. A prime lens is preferred over a zoom.

I decided I needed a rain jacket type product instead.

This product is not really designed for taking professional pictures, but more for protection of your camera, only. Most of the camera controls are inaccessible; therefore you would have to shoot in Auto Mode or other preset mode all the time. Zoom…??? Those finger sleeves provided in the case are not even close to the zoom ring, thus pretty much useless. The only accessible button is the shutter release and the dial above it.

The lens compartment (tube) is not adjustable as it is described in the product description and some of the pictures and unless you have a long lens it will freely move inside of the tube. I have a Canon 40D with 28-135 IS USM lens and it is at least 1 inch away from the case’s glass. The tube could at least be spring loaded or attachable to the lens.

The camera itself occupies about 60% of the inside space, and therefore there is a lot of unused space left inside (even tried it on a full frame Nikon), which doesn’t do any good but makes the size of this case huge and the camera unstable... even if you let all the air out you will end up with a huge lip hanging on the top.

In other words this product is primarily good for accident prevention, when you expect that you/or someone else can accidentally drop it in water, like in my case I’m afraid that my little sun can imagine that my new camera is his new submarine sitting by the swimming pool. Professional imaging with this bag over the camera is simply impossible, unless you drill more holes in it.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

I am an avid tidepooler and I was looking to step up my photography from a waterproof point-and-shoot. So I bought the WP-S10 and loaded my Canon EOS 7D and a 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS (an awesome lens!). First I did a couple of test shots: I dropped a penny to the bottom of a water filled glass vase. To my horror, I discovered that the polycarbonate lens absolutely destroys the image quality. The resolution was much worse than my UW point-and-shoot, an AW100.

Still, I went down to Pigeon Point to field test my new gear. No surprises, thanks to the polycarbonate lens, the 7D was consistently outperformed by the AW100. See the two attached images below. Too bad, if it wasn't for the resolution, you can tell that the 7D would be a much better photo.

I was thinking about replacing the polycarbonate lens with good quality glass, but that's a very complicated operation. I am just going to get another brand of UW bag (hard case is overkill for tidepooling) with an optical glass lens. As it is, the WP-S10 is just a fancy and expensive Ziploc bag.

I am a published photographer and photo hound, wanted to broaden my world in photography by shooting underwater. This water proof case is one of the best prices I have seen compared to the $400+ ones, and it is very clear to shoot through. Though I am taking my time in getting used to it, I do personally love it and can't wait to shot with it more.

Camera housing was meant for surfing and snorkeling with Canon Rebel EOS T5i w/67mm lens. Checked spec's with B&H - resulting in longer housing. Camera/lens too large for housing and required a return. Three stars for potential use.

B&H service was top flight from order to return - received housing in one day for Xmas via expedited order. Great overall customer service - first time with B& H - I'll be back.

I had a senior photo session of a local swimming stud a few weeks ago, and I said what if we would go underwater for some shots??? He said that would be awesome. So I started looking at different options and this one made the most sense, price, quality, reviews, and for how much I will use it I didn't want to pour a lot of capital funds into it.It worked, very well. My biggest problem was staying under water with it...I needed scuba gear and a weight belt, I would swim down and snap photos all the while the boyancy of the camera case would pull me to the top.We got some great and original shots that nobody else will ever have in this area (South Dakota). The customer was more than satisfied and so were we. I have to admit I was a little scared so I put an old Nikon D200 with over 150,000 shutter actions in the bag to shoot the photos, JUST IN CASE I lost everything from a bad case. It was high and dry when I was done.I will use this for years to come...LOVE IT for this application.

I've been photographing seniors in the pool (wearing formal wear) and so far everything is great. I like the puppet-pockets for controlling features and zoom. Sort of fun!

When I took this case out of the box I immediately noticed that this case is basically rolled up tight with a hook&loop strip holding things down/together which made me nervous. However, a careful closure and gentle care of the case means things will be fine.

It's all in how you do it.

I purchased this item for the school I work at. It's a little awkward but a lot more affordable than most of the other cases available. Movement in the lens area can be a little problematic but for the basics it does the job, plus when i upgrade camera equipment i won't have to replace it for the new cameras, as most of the other more rigid cases are model specific.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

Overall, this product meets the expectation as advertised. This is a low budget and affordable for those who want to have fun taking pictures under water occasionally but not on a regular basis. I took the pictures under the water and heavy rain. The pictures are great in the pool because the water is clear but very muddy in the ocean water. It's a little cumbersome at first, but once you get a hang of it, it's not bad. The only thing I complain about this product is the lens cover. It's designed to fit different types of zoom lens so it may not fit with shorter zoom lens like the one that I have. You need to push the lens cap of the lens cover close to the camera lens when taking pictures; otherwise, you'll see the dark circle around the picture. I tried to use the ruber band tighten it, but it didn't hold very well. I'm afraid if I make it too tight, I'll damage the case. The two pockets that allow you to control the zoom didn't work vey well so I didn't use it. I just pressed hard again the lens with the two fingers as you normally do and turn it slowly. Again, you're talking about a $[$] case versus $4,000 professional case. It also works well with the pop-up flash. Although not an intended purpose, the case has plenty of room for storing other small items such as extra flash cards or lens cleaning cloth (do not store sharp items that may pin a hole in the case). This is handy especially when you're in a large theme park and far away from the locker.

Great bag for the money spent. Doesn't leak and gets the job done. Downsides is that it's hard to control the settings and get to the shutter button. You have to press the lens close to the bag otherwise you'll get a vignette. It's good the the bag floats but its hard to submerge the camera without some weight.

I used this a couple of times without a problem in mountain streams. However, the first time taking it snorkeling in the gulf it flooded. Of course I lost my camera but was able to salvage the lens. At first I thought it was user error but upon closer inspection the water had seeped through the layers in the lens port. If you have one test it before each use. If you are debating on one then go find something else. I used an EWA Marine model for years before having any problems but it's too small for my DSLR and zoom lens. In the image you can see the housing filling with water!

Camera is almost impossible to control thru bag. Shutter is fine, zoom is difficult to impossible and forget manual focus. Bag is ONLY secured by Velcro and a zip lock type seal. JUST holds a 5DMKIII with no grip and a Tokina 28-70 lens fits with plenty left. Material is way too thick to even push on buttons above water let alone below, you will usually push every control other than the one intended. I attempted to return but was told I could not, read the fine print people on return policies, about the 4th line from the bottom, no underwater products can be returned! Very disappointed...posting on Internet for sale.

This is an expensive bag, because it's for longer lenses. But at anything over 80mm or so, it gives too soft an image for it to be useful and gets worse with lens length (zoom).

It's the plastic fron clear plate that is the problem. So why build and sell this at a preomium price?

The product does protect the camera, although I wouldn't recommend going too deep underwater with it. It's great for the price. I used it as a precaution to shoot some above water scenes in sea(in case some water is spilled on it). However, i wouldn't recommend using a zoom lenses as it's REALLY hard to control the lenses. Instead, i bumped up the aperture high up so I wouldn't have to worry with focusing

This bag is to big for canon rebel t3 and can't use it easily, so I don't recoment if you have camera like that, but the water dosen't get into the bag.

I actually didn't use it underwater, but instead used it to keep my Rebel XS safe during a Graffiti run. It did an awesome job of keeping my camera safe from the colored cornstarch while I got some awesome action shots!

I read a few reviews already on the case and just as they stated, its hard to change settings (Its best to do that prior to putting it in the case).

Also sadly it dosen't have a 1/4" screw hole for mounting.

However it keeps the water out and is great for video footage. Better then using a gopro and its great for its price point.

I wasn't expecting anything great, so I am not dissapointed. I can get my camera in the bag with the lens on and the bag is water-tight. The glass on the lens tube is optically good and I can get to most of the controls on my D7000 although it takes some practice to get good with it.The lens tube is difficult to align with the lens. I have to hold it while i shoot or it covers part of the view. It's nice to have it when it's raining or snowing outside, but I wouldn't recommend it for snorkeling because it requires too much effort. Probably good for standing in the water taking pictures / videos of surf and other water activities.
