I returned this soon after it arrived. I am giving it 4 stars because it is well made and will protect your camera from sand, water and dust. It's concept is similar to the dry bags I use to protect my gear in a canoe. You insert the camera in the case, roll the top over several times and secure it. I ordered it before there were any reviews. Hope this will help others make an informed purchase. Once the camera is in the case, it was too difficult to change the settings on my Nikon D80. There are channels for you to insert a finger on each side to access the camera. It is only practical to release the shutter with your finger in one of the channels. Additionally, I could not zoom my lens nor change any of the lens' settings. In short it is too cumbersome to do anything but point and shoot. It is appropriate in situations where you and your camera are in sand, water or dust. No one wants a dead camera. A prime lens is preferred over a zoom.

I decided I needed a rain jacket type product instead.

I am an avid tidepooler and I was looking to step up my photography from a waterproof point-and-shoot. So I bought the WP-S10 and loaded my Canon EOS 7D and a 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS (an awesome lens!). First I did a couple of test shots: I dropped a penny to the bottom of a water filled glass vase. To my horror, I discovered that the polycarbonate lens absolutely destroys the image quality. The resolution was much worse than my UW point-and-shoot, an AW100.

Still, I went down to Pigeon Point to field test my new gear. No surprises, thanks to the polycarbonate lens, the 7D was consistently outperformed by the AW100. See the two attached images below. Too bad, if it wasn't for the resolution, you can tell that the 7D would be a much better photo.

I was thinking about replacing the polycarbonate lens with good quality glass, but that's a very complicated operation. I am just going to get another brand of UW bag (hard case is overkill for tidepooling) with an optical glass lens. As it is, the WP-S10 is just a fancy and expensive Ziploc bag.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

This product should be used with too much care! Avoid sink it in the water (use with the upper side out of the water, on shallow water or swimming pools). The first time a tested the product I got water inside the case, enough to damage the camera (if it were inside). On second test, after a authentic war operation to close the case, water did not get inside (just a few drops that could not damage the camera). So, it works, but demands to much attention when you close. More than you will want do give when you´re in the beach, on a boat or anywhere before get in the water and you will be apprehensive while using it. For safety use, do only snorkeling in shallow water, only with the front lens holder inside the water, the upper side of the case out.

I purchased this waterproof case to take my Nikon D90 up Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. It kept my camera dry and I got some decent shots. Since the camera was not completely submerged in water, I got water droplets on the lens. Some photos didn't turn out because of that. Also, you have to be sure to hold the lens cover tight to your camera or you will get the case in your shots. Overall very worth it, especially for the price!

For being under $, this thing is great if you want to try out underwater photography. It's a bit clunky to work with, but it protected my gear and did exactly as advertised. It's definitely tough to change settings on the camera, but I worked around it by enabling the wifi on my camera, and I had my assistant change the settings through my iphone.

It's a great idea, but can't be trusted. It worked when tested out of the box, but didn't survive being packed gently but firmly for travel. When I tested it again before it's first real world use, I noticed small bubbles coming from between the flexible lens extension material and the rigid lens ring. Fail!

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

I have only tried this case out a couple of times and it performs as described--no leaks, decent images. It does take some getting used to. You do have to apply some pressure to make sure that the acrylic lens is flat against the camera's lens or you get some serious key-holing, which makes it hard to use with a smaller lens. And it can be tricky to find the shutter release, so you want to be ready for the picture in advance if possible. That might be something that will get easier as one uses it more. As others have noted it is not easy to change the settings (though it is possible). It was fairly easy to hit the buttons on the back of my 5 D Mark II to review shots. But when it all came together the images were quite decent. It takes some practice to know what works and what doesn't. I like it with a wide angle, as that is more forgiving and easier to find my target. It is also not camera specific and will work with most SLRs. Additionally, if you are paranoid like me about having your camera in an open boat, this is a good solution. The bag's lens degrades the image a little but that is better than missing the shot entirely because you didn't bring the camera at all or you are trying to get it out of the waterproof box or bag you are carrying it in. And it wants to float, which is both good and bad. Bad in that it takes some effort to keep it under water; good in that your camera will float if you lose your grip on it (there's a strap as well for that). For the money it seems to be pretty decent; for those of us who only do occasional under water shooting the price and quality are acceptable. Take care when putting your camera in it (and taking it out as well) and be sure to test it with paper before using it for real.

Nice little splash housing. Would say it's more for stills, as I used it for video and making any sort of adjustments, zoom/ focus is very tough. For the price though, I got some great footage and overall
Happy for what I paid for it.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

The term waterproof is loosely used to describe this enclosure which is only recommended to a few metres. The construction is sturdy and the seal has a press-seal-flap that folds and secured by a velco strip, which provides a reasonable seal, but requires tight folding to make it work. Once sealed, the bag is air tight, but suitable for shallow swimming or using in a boat.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

I bought this to use with my D7000 & Tokina 11-16 lens on a trip to St John. $$$ plastic housings were out of the question, so I saw this and bought it sufficiently ahead of time to thoroughly test it underwater in the bathtub for 3+ hrs. No leaks at all, but it still is a huge leap of faith to take it underwater with the camera!
Looking at reviews it seemed the chief complaint was the long bellows on the hood causing vignetting. I made a plexiglass ring that would stay centered over the front of the hood, with two elastic hooks that attached to the housing straps to keep the front of the hood pressed against my Tokina. Worked like a charm. Also, they need to emulate Ewa and offer weights to make the bag less buoyant. I set the camera to ISO 400,RAW, Aperture @ F8, focused to arm's length and set on manual focus. At these settings there is great depth of field. The only glitch was that I could have used the Live View monitor to frame shots and do a movie or two, but did not think about it.
One needs to be very methodical in both camera settings and sealing / unsealing the bag, but if done properly it is a great value.

Comments about DiCAPac WP-S10 Waterproof Case:

I am a published photographer and photo hound, wanted to broaden my world in photography by shooting underwater. This water proof case is one of the best prices I have seen compared to the $400+ ones, and it is very clear to shoot through. Though I am taking my time in getting used to it, I do personally love it and can't wait to shot with it more.

Camera housing was meant for surfing and snorkeling with Canon Rebel EOS T5i w/67mm lens. Checked spec's with B&H - resulting in longer housing. Camera/lens too large for housing and required a return. Three stars for potential use.

B&H service was top flight from order to return - received housing in one day for Xmas via expedited order. Great overall customer service - first time with B& H - I'll be back.

I purchased this product to protect my dslr while shooting shoots in shallow surf. While it remains dry it's a bit difficult to center the camera without it shifting around. I shall be purchasing foam to fill the form factor of my a T3i for easier operation

I had a senior photo session of a local swimming stud a few weeks ago, and I said what if we would go underwater for some shots??? He said that would be awesome. So I started looking at different options and this one made the most sense, price, quality, reviews, and for how much I will use it I didn't want to pour a lot of capital funds into it.It worked, very well. My biggest problem was staying under water with it...I needed scuba gear and a weight belt, I would swim down and snap photos all the while the boyancy of the camera case would pull me to the top.We got some great and original shots that nobody else will ever have in this area (South Dakota). The customer was more than satisfied and so were we. I have to admit I was a little scared so I put an old Nikon D200 with over 150,000 shutter actions in the bag to shoot the photos, JUST IN CASE I lost everything from a bad case. It was high and dry when I was done.I will use this for years to come...LOVE IT for this application.

I've been photographing seniors in the pool (wearing formal wear) and so far everything is great. I like the puppet-pockets for controlling features and zoom. Sort of fun!

When I took this case out of the box I immediately noticed that this case is basically rolled up tight with a hook&loop strip holding things down/together which made me nervous. However, a careful closure and gentle care of the case means things will be fine.

It's all in how you do it.
