I have only used it a few times so far, but I'm very pleased with the quality. I expected this of a Kingston product. Some people might say that its wire is too short because the wire that is built-in IS extremely short. However, they provided a nice-sized extension wire (3ft long?). I actually like this feature because it is much more travel friendly with the short, tangle-free wire.
I used it with Windows 7 and didn't have to install any drivers. It worked flawlessly. The reason I bought it was that Windows 7 was not recognizing my Canon T1i AT ALL when I would plug it in through USB. Now I can simply remove the card and plug in through the Kingston.

With this device, I can use a memory card as external backup storage for my laptop. It is easily portable to other computers. The design is good, including in its little details (retraction for transport, rubber pads to prevent sliding, light indicator, USB cable extension).

Comments about Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Media Reader:
The media reader easily switches between my desktop PC, where I need the extended cord, and my laptop during travel, where the short cord works fine. I've used only one of the slots (SD/MMC), but I'm glad to have the capability to transfer data from other people's equipment if needed. The Slider Chassis, especially with its reluctant movement back and forth, seems unnecessary. The stated purpose is to allow "for easy storage of the unit's self-contained USB cable". But I find that the short connector cable lies flat in the back of the unit even while the chassis is in the forward (operating) position, so I leave the chassis in that position all the time. I have the unit connected to my desktop PC most of the time, anyway.

I use this to transfer photos from my CF card to my comp. this thing is super light, plastic, and feels like i could break it with a small chomp on the corner- not that i chew on things.
It serves its purpose and does a good job of it. I don't really like the design and the "extend/retract" tab on top because i dont' really get what it's for.... and it feels like it'll snap when i try to slide the tab.

Comments about Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Media Reader:
It seems consumer electronic manufacturers aren't interested in establishing a format standard when it comes to flash cards. The solution is a product such as the item you are now researching. I've plugged it into 2 Toshiba Satellite series notebooks, one running on a Win 8 OS, the other running on Win 7. 100% plug and play using OS drivers. The Kingston reader operates perfectly, and with its 19 format capability, it should cover the bases for the time being. Inexpensive, simple, satisfatory quality.

It's a reader, and it does what a reader should. The built-in USB cord is a really nice touch - I constantly spend time digging through my bag for USB cables when I'm in the field. In short - I like it.
Downsides? Nothing much. It's plastic. Still relatively sturdy, but if you need serious durability it might be worth getting something with a little more metal. ...Also, I still hate blister-pack packaging, if that counts.
