The Sony PS-LX300USB USB Stereo Turntable is a belt-drive turntable with a USB output for direct connection to PCs, iPod, and other compatible USB audio devices. The USB output allows for easy vinyl archiving directly to software (supplied). The efficient belt-drive system provides accurate play and control. I just bought a PS-LX300USB and made my first recording. Very slick! I wanted to address a point made by more than one reviewer - "Can't monitor while recording". It is really very easy to do as there are two sets of outputs - USB & RCA (phono). All you do is run the USB to your computer and run the RCA to a stereo. In my case, my stereo is in another room - SO - I just got an adaptor from Radio Shack (COUPLER - two female RCA, one end, and one female mini phono, other end) and hooked up a set of iPod earphones to the RCA outs. Cheap headphones are best because they are designed for low output devices and will give you enough volume to monitor with, with only the turntable's built in "line-out" to power them. When one song ends hit the pause button, then the make another recording button, then the record button again. There are plenty of effects and tools - for old albums you can use the EQ to boost the highs, etc or put in a little reverb to make it sound more live.. You can preview (hear) any effect before committing. A great little package - all you need to do the job.

I getting a high shrill hum when connected to my HK 3485 Harman/Kardon receiver. That is a big negative, because it is in the recordings, too. The overall hookup to USB works fine when I disconnect from the receiver, but that leaves me with lower quality speakers on the PC. Many turntables have a ground wire, not this one, if that is the problem

This is a very good turntable for the money. Plays vinyl records very well. Don't be mislead by the title, this turntable is able to play a record like normal through speakers via RCA out. However, you also have the option to convert your vinyl to mp3, etc. Sound quality is great, can't beat a good old fashioned record. Definitely worth buying!

Easy to connect, easy to use, and great sound. I couldn't give it 5 stars as the software takes time to learn and I'm not there yet. Hopefully I will get proficient with it soon. I would recommend this product. It's not the higher end turntable you had in the early 70's, but for what you need it for today, it does the job well.

Based on research, I'm using Audacity with my new turntable to convert 70's LP's to MP3. No problems with either hw or sw, but I did have to reset some Windows parameters to get WMP to work again. Never tried the supplied software. Sony turntable runs great, has just the features needed to make LP conversion to MP3 easy, and the sound quality is fine both via USB and the two-level audio connection (phones or line). Saved a few $ going B&H as well, it took maybe three days to arrive in Texas via free shipping option.

This is one of the best plug and play turntables. The supplied software (Soundforge) is pretty good to record, clean hiss, and adjust recording volume. Sometimes it will miss the gap between two songs but then most recording softwares have this issue.

I got this record player for my Mom as it is fully automatic and she wont have to remember to pick up the needle at the end. She has little use for any advanced features. This product fulfills its purpose nicely. One large inconvenience is the output RCA cables are extremely short and hard wired. You will inevitably need to buy an RCA extension cable if the receiver is not directly next to or below the record player.

Easy to use. I had over 100 albums from the 1960 and 1970's, I was amazed at how it took scratches out of the these albums!
The only problem with this product is that the track finder at times cuts off the first couple of notes on the next track, but it is easy to cut and paste to the proper track with the software.

I bought this item to transfer all my vinyl records to computer to IPOD.
Works great, but my problem is the audio has to be changed everytime i stop working on the transfers, to the computer, so I can hear out of my speakers when operating my computer and not the turntable...kinda a pain, took some time to figure it all out.

Excellent value considering all of the outputs and the preamp and also the ability to plug into computer. People complain that you can't listen to the music while uploading to your computer, making it difficult to know when to flip the vinyl. However, that's wrong. All you have to do is look at the stylus and when it comes onto the slick surface you flip the record(not that hard -_-). Warning: don't buy this if you want to learn to spin records and do scratches and stuff, it's nearly impossible to spin without touching the vinyl itself.

Very easy to install and operate. I have only used it to digitize my old 33 records, which is a snap to do. Like others, I had trouble with set up so I could listen to a record while digitizing to my computer. It finally worked, but I'm not really sure what I did. The sound through the computer speakers seems noisy, but the recorded wav(and mp3) files are very clean. I would definitely recommend this product.

I just bought a PS-LX300USB and made my first recording. Very slick! I wanted to address a point made by more than one reviewer - "Can't monitor while recording".
