The Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone System replaces its UWP-C series predecessor with enhancements that include a rugged, all-metal chassis and Mic/Line switchable input at the transmitter. PLL-synthesized tuning, space-diversity reception and all other professional wireless features that made the UWP-C series a popular choice, go into the enhanced UWP-V1 system.
The camera-mountable receiver features space-diversity technology which stabilizes reception and minimizes RF interference by selecting the strongest incoming signal. In addition the antennas swivel so that you can achieve even stronger reception. A stereo mini jack output with monitor volume control is featured and both stereo, mini and XLR cables are provided. An LCD display provides channel & frequency information, battery life, RF-input level, audio-output status and accumulated operating time. The receiver operates on 2 AA batteries for up to 8 hours and its compact design and included shoe-mount adapter allows easy mounting to most camcorders.
The improved body-pack transmitter features a microphone and line level input switch. This allows wireless transmission of microphone or line level signals. Like the receiver, the body-pack transmitter also features 188 selectable UHF frequencies and operates up to 8 hours on 2 AA size alkaline batteries. An omnidirectonal lavalier microphone is supplied with this system.

We make fly fishing DVDs and have been having audio problems with the previous VHF wireless mic system we were using. The problem we encountered was interference or total loss of signal once we were more than 50 foot from the camera.
The UWP-V1 has now overcome these problems, in fact it has more than met our expectations. Our first field trials had it working without any problems up to 300 feet away, more than we would ever need - outstanding performance!
Using UHF is a great bonus, as is the vast number of channels you have to choose from to prevent interference from other external sources and we really like the auto search function that will find the first free channel for you.
For our first test we simply used the system straight out of the box, just added batteries, ensured the transmitter and receiver were on the same frequency and away we went.
It is very durable, small to carry around and looks great on the camera. On top of that it all works and works well, what more could you ask for!
The only change I have made is an addition of a small dead cat on the mic - had to make this one - to ensure the wind on some wild rivers was not a problem. During normal conditions the foam mic covers that come with the unit work well.

I use this wireless in Web production of clients videos along with the Sony EX1. This unit has a solid body with very little plastic. The sound is good. The range is excellent. I don't like any of the connectors. Seems flimsy and easy to get damaged. But at least they screw in. The microphone isn't the greatest in the world, but for $500.00 it is an excellent value.

This is a great microphone. I plan to purchase another in the near future. I really like the quality construction of this device, all metal casing. Looks are important but the sound quality is excellent. Sony has a winner here for the money. Quick shipping from BHPhoto, the package came very well packed.

Have owned this pack for 2 years and this is my second purchase. Great product. Clarity is fantastic. I work in a moderate sized metro area, many times where other wireless systems are used. The Sony UWP-V1 offers wireless space to workaround other systems. Also, this system is built very well. Battery life is acceptable. Just overall great system. Recommend to anyone who needs a pro audio wireless system for their video shoots.

The quality and use of these are great. I had used them a lot when working for productions houses and was happy to buy them when I needed them for my own work. I use them to record sound to my DSLR with a beechtek to take in the xlr and an on-cam Rhode mic.

Just got it out of the box - and does what it needs to do.
Was amazed at the sound quality (vs. the wired lavaliere we had originally) - and that it worked when my daughter walked around the office.
Will see what kind of quality it does out in the field with students.

In a nut shell, this is amazing! You don't have to worry about anything with you get it.
I LOVE the build quality! Oh my! I was actually amazed when I held it the first time.
The variety of options and the included cables make everything easier.
My ONLY wish is that since this is a SONY, I would expect that it should come with a Hot Shoe to Standard ISO Hot Shoe adapter so that it works with SONY Alpha Cameras (like my A77).
But all in all, this is a great product especially that you can monitor the audio out separately and have the camera its own line in input.

I produce video pieces about golf tournaments, and I'll often mic up players on the course. Mic works perfectly for the length of most golf holes. Over 300+ yards it gets a little fuzzy, but I've had great success with this microphone, even in windy conditions.

I use it mostly for Wedding videos and quality and distance you get from this device is just fantastic. Battery last long enough for any of my projects. Price is on the higher side, but well worth it when client comes back with praise how good the sound was and you know there was nothing else which would save the day.
Highly recommended, very useful

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
As a legal and forensic videographer, I frequently use four pair transmitter/receiver sets simultaneously in deposition settings. Two pair in the 30/32 cluster and two pair in the 42/44 cluster. The four receivers are sitting side by side. Not a whisper of interference or cross-over problems. NOT A ONE! These have been used in hospitals, high rise office buildings and other secure areas. Using ni-cads in the transmitters, I frequently receive 5 hours of service before changing. Overall, I am pleased with construction, durability, performance, audio quality and size. Would I like to see more features? Sure, but these are not the same price of my Lectro 400 series! You will be hard pressed to find similar quality and features for the dollar investment.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
This wireless lav system is awesome. Coming from a budget wireless lav system, it is like night and day. No hum, or hissing anymore and no more dropped signal. When looking for a new system I was originally comparing these with the sennheiser G3's, but you can't monitor the output from the receiver (since I don't always like using an external recorder), I went with the sony's.
Pro's:
Build Quality is fantastic
Easy to use
Monitor output w/ level control (on receiver)
clean output
AA batteries
Con's:
I wish it had an output level control, but I knew that having the monitor output was more important...

Very happy with not only the audio quality of this mic set, but also the build quality. The mics are made from actual metal and have just enough weight in them to make them to remind you they are there, but nothing more.
The price is a bit high, but well worth it for what you get. If you're looking for a mic for interviews and quick run and gun interviews, these are well worth it.
