I use an EZ FX jib arm atop a Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging 528XB Heavy-Duty 1-Stage Tripod Legs and with the weight of my camera rig I needed to have the luxury of easily relocating that monstrosity and this awesome product provides that ability. I was mush larger than my last dolly. The cable guards can be easily removed when necessary. The dolly has a 3/8" in the center to attach a tripod head to get low angle shots on a movable based. That Rocks!! This unit lifted my jib another 7 inches which is a great thing.

First, I'm a pro videographer not a photographer. I shoot everything from sports and weddings to fire loss, corporate/industrial, parties and commercials. If it reflects light, I shoot it. So, if I was buying this dolly today, I'd have to look at all these sparkling reviews and hit the "Order" button.
But wait a minute....nearly every review says, "It shook a little bit so I added some sandbags (or weights) to take out the shake." Really? Really? Then why have a dolly? Get a Steadi-Cam. In addition to your camera bags, recorders, tripods, audio equipment, cords and lighting you're going to bring sandbags also to a shoot?
I've had this product for two years now and it CAN ONLY BE USED ON ABSOLUTELY SMOOTH FLOORS. Not parquet dance floors, not concrete, not berber or any industrial carpet, nothing but SMOOTH floors. I would steer everyone clear of this product, unless you want to also lug sandbags with you to every shoot you do. If I was to bring a sandbag or two to a wedding shoot, the venue would make me cover it up with a black table cloth! I am retrofitting mine with pneumatic tires and hoping for the best. Your first clue that this is not a product for video is the "Describe Yourself" section for these reviews. It lists ONLY Photographers!

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
I need a dolly to move a full sized camera on a tripod for studio work. Even with the wheels turned out and locked, there is a lot of play. It was too wobbly for me to use for pan or tilt tripod shots. I returned it and bought the Leibec DL-3. It is rock solid and a lot less money.

The only issue is the plastic pumper footings, I wish they were made of a stronger material.

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
I bought this to plant my 528XB tripod on it when I am using a GlideTrack or jib. It really makes it easy to move from setup to setup. I didn't really have an expectation of doing rolling shots with it, but I think now I may try one sometime when on a really smooth surface - also want to try that with the low screw mount, might make for a nice shot. But it already satisfies me by doing what I bought it for, and at a nice price.

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
I produced a promo for a private school recently and the 114 Heavey Duty Cine/Video Dolly by Manfrotto was a great asset. It made it easy for me to film from room to room and added that great motion perspective that we all strive for in the production world. I used this dollie with a medium duty Manfrotto bogan tripod and a light weight HD prosumer Panasonic camera and it worked wonderfully. Sometimes however depending on the rolling surface, I added some additional weight to the dollie crossbars. This improved the wheel stability and took care of the problem. The large wheels really made it easy to roll and being able to lock down the tripod to the dollie gave me real camera stability. Sound does generate through the dollie and tripod up to the camera, so I recommend removing your shot gun mic and mounting it on a poll away from the vibration. Great product overall.

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
Bought this based on the reviews and the fact that this dolly uses large 5" wheels versus the cheap 3" ones on the less expensive dollies.
I wanted a dolly for achieving longer smooth tracking/dolly shots with my Canon 5DmII than what my glidetrack could accomplish. On smooth surfaces (in this case I was shooting in a school hallway), I found that with careful technique, I was able to get the nice shots I was looking for. Since DSLR is so light, I hung a 20lb sandbag from the center of my tripod to help weigh it down and this worked well.
Overall, very pleased with this one. VERY solidly built. This is a clear case of "you get what you pay for."

Large, heavy duty wheels and strong constuction make this a piece of pro equipment. This is my second one and I take the cable guides off, which is easy to do.

Solid Dolly, works well with the tripod 546b. I found that the caster were a little noisy on uneven surfaces, but a couple sandbags to keep the weight low restores silent running.

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
When you don't have either the money or the space for a full sized dolly system this certainly works splendidly in a pinch. Would a doorway dolly or Fisher 10 or 11 be better? Well, of course! But in a pinch this rig can provide you with smooth moves. It is heavier than I imagined it would be, and that translates to better performance on the set. And you can take it low with the attached tripod head stud (which makes a nifty hi-hat with the wheels locked down!)

I use this as the base for my jib. Its very solid and the wheels are smooth. I find it very quick and easy to set up and take down. I took off the studio cable guides as I use this more on location. It makes repositioning the jib a whole lot easier. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Nothing bad to say about it.

Comments about Manfrotto 114 Heavy Duty Cine/Video Dolly:
First, this thing is a great deal more substantial than I was expecting. It's got a bit of significant weight on it, but Manfrotto did a great job of making it manageable by making it able to be folded down (complete with a carrying handle - which helps a great deal). Questions I had were: 1: can you use any tripod with this thing? 2: can you pull off moving shots with it as well? Here's what I've decided - I can't attest for all tripods, but I have the 055xpro and it works pretty decently with it. The adjustable holders (for the tripod feet) swivel forwards and backwards a good 20 degrees or more, which helps it adapt to the legs of a tripod being at different angles. Word to the wise - if you're doing anything but extending the tripod to it's fullest height, be prepared to spend a little time making sure everything fits properly. Now to the 2nd issue - you're still gonna generate quite a bit of vertical jitter with this thing, so unless your camera or lens is equipped with a really good stabilizer, don't expect to capture smooth, even footage. Also, the casters are all pivoting, so when you change direction, there'll be a significant bump (think grocery carts). One more thing to keep in mind: this dolly is substantial enough that it can be a little limiting when shooting in small spaces - a cafe for example.

I would have given it a 5-Star rating if it wasn't for one of the cable guards was too low and scrapping the floor when you roll it around. Will have to find out how to adjust and level that.

I unpacked it and had it set up and working in two minutes. It's solid, rolls and shifts directions smoothly and is easy to carry and store. Take off the cable guards and it rolls like a dream on carpet. Works with any style tripod, which is why I bought because I have three kinds from cheap to pro and I'm very pleased. A nice design and worth the money.

If you are looking for an heavy duty dolly, this is the one for you. The only cons I fund on this dolly are, break set and release latches are too small for the size dolly, but this will not stopping me to give this dolly a 5 Star.
