The Manfrotto Mini Hydrostatic Arm features a revolutionary locking system that produces a firm lock with very minimal effort. The system incorporates a technically advanced ball locking mechanism using hydrostatic action that is based on principles of modern hydraulics. With just a slight turn of the wrist, the arm securely locks in the desired position to firmly hold any camera, monitor, or accessory.
The shorter arm (5") is also the more powerful. The pivoting pin is threaded with 1/4-20" and 3/8" studs so it can be attached to the top of a video camera to support a small monitor or other video accessory with an exceptional load of 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg).

Comments about Manfrotto Mini Hydrostatic Arm - 5" (12.7cm):
I mounted an Ikan Multi-K LED light to it and it supports it perfectly. Like every other Manfrotto product I've bought over the years, it's high quality.

Comments about Manfrotto Mini Hydrostatic Arm - 5" (12.7cm):
The mini hydrostatic is well made and compact. I purchashed it to mount a small (7") Marshall field monitor to a camera. The monitor with the battery is just a bit too heavy for the arm and it will drag the arm to one side or the other if we're not careful. I don't feel the monitor is in danger of falling, it just moves out of position. A good feature is that I can position the monotor at any angle for easy viewing. This is why I made the purchase. We mostly work from a tripod so we can take care with the monitor positioning. We'll stick with it but I don't think the unit is the right support for more demanding situations, like ENG. The quality is great and I think we'll get good (if careful) use from it for many years.
