I sell stock photography to two magazines. I noticed that no matter how hard I locked my old quick release to the camera, it would work loose, and my camera would rotate on the tripod. Not a lot, but enough to make me notice. You would set the shot like you wanted, and then watch as the camera moved just a bit.
Don't let the name architectural fool you. If you don't want the camera to slip a little, when set for horizontal pictures, this quick release is for you.
It has taken me a little time to get use to the way this attached to my tripod. My old quick release attachment lever was to my left, but when the 200plarch-14, is attached to my D200, the lever is at the front of the camera not to the left side of the camera. It didn't take me long to get used to this, but it did suprise me that it didn't work the same as my older quick release did. It does a great job of doing what it was designed to do, not allowing the camera to rotate when locked to the tripod.
Depending on which camera you own, you might need to disassemble and then re-assemble the quick release. But, don't worry this takes maybe two minutes and is covered with the material sent with the quick release.

This mounting plate contains an attachment to limit the movement of your camera when taking vertical photos. However, the screw did not have enough length to attach to the camera when it had to extend through both the mounting bracket and the restricting plate. I used the plate without the bracket and probably should have saved [$] by returning it and just buying the bracket in the first place.

I have a good tripod. I use it mostly when I am using my 400 mm lens on the camera. This lens attaches to the tripod, rather than the camera. So, when I want to do something that needs the camera to be really steady, it was a pain to take everything apart to use it. So, I just got a release for the bottom of the camera too. Now, I can use the tripod with either with just a click. :)

Over all good. Had some trouble with the spring washer which locks the screw in place. Had to adjust the spring clamp. Maybe a internal star washer would be better.

I have several cameras that I switch out frequently. Additional Quick Release Plates were the best and least expensive approach. The anti-twist feature on the 200PALARCH-14 plate is an improvement over the plate originally supplied with my tripod. I am pleased with product and its improvements.

I needed a plate for a Manfrotto head that did not have the alignment pin attached. It was hard to find one, but this one fills the bill perfectly. Obviously nothing extra special about a QR plate, but if you don't want the alignment pin, this one's for you.

Only 4 stars due to price. I use this QR on all my Canon camera bodies and on additional items I may attach to my tripod or "monopole device". This model has the little right angle "keeper" that prevents the camera from twisting. Just what I wanted and need.
I often times use a Nodal Ninja panoramic head and other panoramic "devices" (some homemade), to shoot elevated panoramas. I have the corresponding Manfrotto plates on all the connection points for quick & easy setup.

I'm not sure why this isn't the standard Manfrotto plate. I kept having problems with the camera and ringlight twisting when I was trying to shoot a vertical. This solves that problem completely, by locking the plate not just to the bottom of the camera, but along the side too, keeping it from twisting on the securing screw.

I use it on a gripped D300s, and it works well for keeping the camera's weight from pulling it downward while in portrait orientation.
While I haven't had any problems with it yet, it really does need a longer screw. Common sense should have told somebody at Manfrotto that.

Easy to use, it helps stabilize the camera and big lens, in order to avoid torque movement of the camera.
Will be better if the vertical metal was padded, it can hurt camera if not used carefully. Also, can scratch the plastic cover of LCD in DSLR

I love this quick release design, it works so well. the anti-twist ridge is helpful and worth a few extra bucks. the only potential issue seems to be that the screw isn't as long as some might want. you can get it into the camera but its only holding on by a thread maybe two.

I bought this to use with my Manfrotto 322RC2.
The plate fits my D-700 and the Nikon 80-200 barrel without having to take anything apart. The silver plate on the bottom slides to adjust. Now I have the orig and this one. One I will keep on the lens. I must admit I haven't been out in the field but have been playing with it at home and am pleased with how secure it holds things when moving the camera vertical.

At first glance, this plate looked smaller than any other plates I've used on my tripods. I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was. On top of that, it held my Canon Mark IV with a normal lens very sturdy. I only used this twice, but there was no slipping or twisting.
