I always dreamed about those many thousand $$ telephoto heavy lenses, but the price/performance for an amateur was too high.
Then I finally found one for a price lower by an order of magnitude compared to those professional lenses.
For the price I though.. Aww,what the heck.. and tried to buy one. Unfortunately in my country there's no distributor so I made an international purchase directly from B&H's website.
      The delivery was fast.
Upon reception I attached the lens to my Panasonic FZ100 and voila! It performed exactly as expected.

This is a good lens for the price, and certainly adds significant zoom range to many video cameras.

I use it with a Panasonic HC-V700 (22X optical zoom) and HC-V201 (38X optical zoom). Clarity at maximum optical zoom is fairly good on the V700, but as expected not as good on the V201 due to the native high zoom of the camera. Autofocus on both cameras works well with this lens installed.

My only complaint is the lens introduces significant chromatic aberration at times, depending on the lighting conditions and angle compared to the light source. The aberration gets worse at the sides of the image, with purple and green "shadows" appearing next to objects in the frame. I use it mainly for wildlife videography while hiking, so the chromatic aberration often becomes an issue with the finished video clips. But for the price and weight of the lens, it actually performs fairly well.

I have also found it works very well as a video spotting scope, where the chromatic aberration does not matter. When attached to the HC-V201 with 38X native optical zoom, the lens is equivalent to a 2700mm SLR lens, so it is very good for spotting wildlife from great distances. I had to add lens threads to the HC-V201 camera with a carefully glued-on 43mm to 62mm filter reducer ring, but the lens is so light it did not strain the glue joint.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

I've used lens extenders on several smaller video cameras over the years and this one is quite decent for the price. Very lightweight, an issue for me as it's used mostly for nature work and I often have to carry all my own gear for days.
A little soft but that's the penalty for add-on lenses.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

I am the owner of a Canon PowerShot S5IS, a bridge camera that is loaded with very usable features on its own. I recently took an interest in wildlife photography and was becoming quite frustrated with the camera's standard zoom. I didn't want to lose image quality by using the digital zoom.

After reading reviews for a couple of weeks I decided to purchase the Raynox DCR-2025Pro. I took it out immediately when it arrived. I was pleased at how lightweight it is. It fit on my adapter perfectly. I also purchased an 82mm UV lens to protect the open end of this tele-converter.

This converter has single-handedly taken my wildlife shots to new levels. I had read some reviews that stated that this lens only shoots in focus at the center of the image, but I have not found that to be the case. All if my pictures are sharp and clear. Vignetting occurs at anything below 70% zoom, but if you're not zooming or increasing your zoom then why purchase?

If you have a bridge camera and want that extra reach, without sacrificing image quality, then this would be a huge asset to have in your camera bag.

One thing that I was disappointed with was the plastic step down rings that came with the converter. I will be purchasing aluminum rings soon, as I can already tell the plastic threads are going to give within a couple of months of heavy use.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

I had a Raynox HDP 9000ex that I used on my Canon XH A1. Since I recently bought a Canon XA20, I thought this lens would be a useful addition. Just like its bigger brother, this lens is great for reducing the field of view of any lens. Since this lens is really only good for the last 10-20% of the zoom range of the camera lens on the XA20, I used an old lens hood from another camera with the same lens hood bayonet mount & adapted that (cut & glue etc.) to the Raynox lens. Now I can simply fit the lens to the bayonet mount of the XA 20 by removing the lens hood, then with a small twist, I can fit this lens. Takes about 2 seconds which is way better than mucking around trying to screw the lens on with via the filter thread. This easy on/off arrangement makes the lens perfect when the camera's own lens isn't quite long enough as all I do is leave the lens zoomed in, then attach this lens & voila! 2.2x magnification of the image!
Just like the larger HDP 9000ex lens, there is no loss of light with this adaptor which is great. Larger apertures however will make things on the edges of the picture rather blurry, so staying with a slightly smaller aperture will keep things looking great. This lens will tend to magnify deficiencies in the camera lens too, so any CA on high contrast edges may show up more pronounced using this lens. Unlike the bigger HDP 9000ex lens, this lens is made from ABS plastic however, i'm sure with care, this won't be a problem, & if anything, may make it a little more resilient to scratches & dents etc. It is certainly lighter than if it were made of metal or aluminum like the HDP 9000ex.
After having modified it so I can put it on & take it off so quickly & easily, I am sure I will be using this lens quite a lot for CU shots of wildlife while hiking.

Canon doesn't offer many telephoto options for their camcorders. I use an XA10. Since the Raynox is light weight, it is a good match. Getting 2,2x with acceptable light takes a lot of glass, which would be hard on the lens mount of small camcorders. This lens solves the problem. 2.2x is a luxury for older prosumer models (hate that term!). The result is quite sharp. This is the only non-canon option worth considering. I love mine!!!

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

I'm learning to video the local birdlife. My Canon HF G10 is a fine camcorder, but those birds often hang out too far away for it to do the job alone. So I decided to start with a relatively inexpensive telephoto lens, the Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x. If I find a bird that will hold still until I can locate it in a telephoto lens (no small feat), I can get excellent shots, especially of larger birds like owls, woodpeckers, robins and cardinals. I left the camcorder on its tripod one afternoon aimed at a hole in a dead tree trunk where I knew a Screech Owl was nesting. I came back 45 minutes later and claimed clear, adorable shots of the owl emerging like a periscope out of water, dozing with half lidded eyes and ducking back in a nanosecond when a woodpecker harassed it.

My greatest frustration with the lens is that it's difficult to tell whether I have the subject in sharp focus, even in manual mode, even when I pay careful attention. Sometimes the bird is clear, but sometimes I only get sharp footage of a dead leaf. I never know which it will be until the footage has been uploaded. Since I haven't worked with high end telephoto lenses, I don't know whether they would solve that problem.

Of course, I prefer to get footage without the telephoto lens if possible, because the Canon camcorder lets in more light when it doesn't have the lens attached. Without it, though, I would never have gotten a Red-bellied Woodpecker calling and hammering out a hole in a dead tree for its mate to lay eggs in.

I use this TELEPHOTO and the 2.5 Macro.. with the 30x zoom provided by the HS20 you can see the hex pattern in a whasps eye.. for under 800.00 for everything! That's where it's at, DSLR is great, for action, otherwise you'll get same quality with SLR style Digital with adaptive lens.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

For the price this lens does a great job. If you are not planning to be a professional photographer and just want to enjoy your own photographs this lens is a great way to get the focal range you need for wildlife.

The only problems you might have is trying to shoot on wide angle with the lens attached or trying to use this on a camera that does not already have 10+ optical zoom.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

Reading all the reviews by other purchasers of this product, gave me a feeling that it was OK, But! I decided that I would see for myself and boy, was I in for a surprise.

I have a Canon XM2, with its 20 times zoom it is a delight use and it initially exceeded all of my expectations. I video birds, (feathered kind) and have some wonderful video's taken over the last four years.

My project this time was to video the Square tailed Kite, this bird is seldom seen and not much is known of its breeding cycle. A nest had been found with a breeding pair in attendance. Situated 25 meters up a tree, it gave the XM2 a good chance to show its capabilities.

I had videoed the two young from early feathers to young adults, being fed by their parents and eventually eating the nestlings dropped into the nest by their parents. Six hours of video to edit, but I was a little disappointed by some of the video footage taken. I knew that a platform was the only way to get good shots. Then I read about the DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens.

I bought it and managed to get another thirty minutes of video before the now full grown young left their nest forever. Amazing shots, I can see down their throats when they yawn, get full head shots instead of most of the bird shots, vignetting? sure it does, but its a specialty lens for moments like this used at full zoom and I wish I had six hours of tape taken with this lens.

So in summary, XM2 users, go for this lens attachment, you wont be disappointed, use a sturdy tripod, and expect jitter when you gently push the start and stop buttons, this is easily edited out, and if your a purist, use your remote and don't touch the camera.

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

works OK at full 12X zoom on my EXF1, but reduces to a smallish circular field of view in the middle of an otherwise black frame at wider angles (e.g. < about 10X). I expected this to be useful, filling the full frame across the full optical zoom range of the camera, but I can't use 1X - 12X optical zoom with it.

Also would be nice if it came with a cap which fit over the sunshade. The cap that's shipped with it fits the lens after the sunshade is removed.

Okay. You get what you pay for.

The reason why Canon L lens are so expensive are because they are made with better glass and better engineering. So the pictures come our crisp and clean.

This tele-converter produces clean images at the center. But the surrounding 30% can be blurred or show blur curvature.

The best uses of this are in its video usage. As in this usage, you cannot see the lack of clarity.

But I still take photos with this using my Canon Rebel T2i and it produces a crisp clean image for the center of my subject and gives a creative LOMO effect for the surrounding.

I really hope Raynox is able to produce a higher quality one some day.

Oh and this is durable. I cannot tell you how many times I have accidentally dropped this lens on the concrete, only to have it bounce around and still be in one piece.

                                  I love it!

Comments about Raynox DCR-2025PRO 2.2x Telephoto Lens:

This is a good enough product, not excellent. It is however a great compromise between quality and cost. Evidently its performance varies somewhat between different models of digital cameras. Unless a teleconverter like this one was designed specifically for a particular model of camera it will produce vignetting at low zoom settings (the corner shadows mentioned by a previous reviewer). In most cameras this is eliminated by going to a higher zoom setting. I have used this product with point-and-shoot digital cameras and with camcorders. Currently I use it with a Panasonic HDC-TM300 camcorder. An example of a video shot with this equipment (though my dining room glass window nonetheless) can be found here:[@]I am very satisfied with this product. [...]

I have bought the lens to my husband and I told it to the salesman. He told me he did not have a Canon and sugested me to buy this one, that could be adapted to the camera.
When I arrived in Brazil, my husband told me that "a smart" salesman sold it to me. This lens lets a kind of shadow at the corners of the picture. And my husband wanted a flexible product.
So our experience with this was a nightmare, unhappyly.
