Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Pole:

I'm using this pole with an 8 x 8' Matthews Green Screen backdrop and 2 Matthews C-Stands. This setup is easy to transport and use on locations that require a simple green screen shot. The pole easily holds up the 8 x 8 backdrop, using trick line and the grommets on the green screen. As mentioned by other reviewers, the pole doesn't lock at your preferred length, but I haven't found that to be a problem for my application. This is a great, time-saving solution to hanging a backdrop quickly.

yes, it's cheap, but as the name indicates, it's a starter one. I just wish it locked on the length chosen.

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Pole:

It is very long and NOT possible to carry arround .... I purchased it because of its 12 feet length ... However, it does its job, seems like durable, very minimal sagging, only at the length of 12 feet.
Non locking design is ok ... but would be more secure. It is NOT portable ... I have tried even 48" Tenba rolling light stand case ... no help ... the length written is wrong.... However, good to use in studio.

I will have to purchase Manfrotto crossbar.... again this is the example of purchasing the wrong product online ...

This works great, i use it for 53" rolls of paper, it has no problem holding them at all, this thing is strong, and i would buy it again!

when it's compressed it's about 50", so if you have to take it with you it can be harder, but still great

This bar works awesome, it holds my 53" rolls of paper with out any worry, i have never tried bigger rolls but this thing is built to hold paper, i would for sure buy this again!

it's size when compressed is 50" i think, so it is a little hard to fit in a car if your moving your set, but then again my paper is that big!

I would not be able to so with a single straight pole. I use different lenghts backdrops so it's a pleasure to use.

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Pole:

I built a small studio at home and created a DIY background support attached to a wall. But my homemade pole was somewhat unsuccessful. It sagged to much despite all efforts to make it more solid.

So I went to my favorite place, B&H, and found this marvelous product. It is everything I needed in my studio and since it is adjustable I can use it on location with a couple of light stands!

Wish I had done this in the beginning!!

Well it does compact to a small size and seems to be a bit stronger than the Savage pole I have, so I like that, but I downgraded because of the locking screws on the ends. I understand why they are there, but you have to take them completely off in order to but a Savage roll on.

But other than that a really good pole

With the name "First Studio" I was expecting a little less than what this is. Fully adjustable, strong, easy to use. The sections do not lock like the Manfrotto but they really do not have to. A great find.

I needed another pole for a stationary area, this worked great.
                                        Very good quality.
Like the telescopic part of the pole.

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Pole:

Combined with a couple of light stands, the photoflex backdrop pole fills the exact need for setting up a backdrop environment in a client's home, for example. Construction is excellent and even when extended the full width provides more than adequate strength to support your muslin or other fabric backdrops. I've not tried rolled paper yet, but I don't see a reason why that would not work either. I picked up standard clamps from [...] (Huge kit of multiple size for under $7 - can't beat it, and you can never have enough clamps. :-) I would highly recommend the Photoflex pole. Great value for the dollar.

[...]I like the fact that this product comes in black instead of the regular aluminum color. This will prevent possible reflections. The tightening bolts on top are bit unnecessary, since the weight of most backgrounds prevents slippage. I had bolts like this on other equipment that become broken after many trips to and from the job.
