The Motu V4HD is a comprehensive plug-and-play I/O package engineered to provide video professionals with the ultimate in conversion and playback. As the V3HD was anchored by the popular and ever-growing DVCPRO HD codec, the V4HD takes the system to the next level by featuring full-raster ProRes 422 support for Apple Final Studio 2.
The V4HD supports an efficient and supported workflow path that will never overtax your system's resources, sparing your computer from the excessive overhead commonly associated with uncompressed HD video.
Whether you are using a desktop or a laptop, the V4HD is an all-in-one solution unmatched by the competition. Featuring simultaneous output support for such standards as HDMI, HD/SD-SDI, HD/SD Component, and more. Lets users monitor footage over virtually any delivery path.

Comments about MOTU V4HD FireWire Video Interface:
The V4HD is my "Goto" standards converter. Since the day I installed it it has functioned flawlessly. Not only does is simultaneously down convert our 1080i HD signal to SD SDI, YUV and S-video, It also cross converts our AES streams to analog and mixes them via Cuemix for SD DVD recording.
It has served so well I bought a second one just to handle our stream encoder!
If you are doing anything with video signals you need one...or you will!

Comments about MOTU V4HD FireWire Video Interface:
We use the V4HD as a HD-SDI to NTSC down converter, HDMI Monitor interface, and record directly into FCP during live switch HD production right off the switcher! It continues to amaze us in how many functions can be executed simultaneously. Editing with a 2.6GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro using FW800 only for the Motu and eSata for the RAID makes an awesomely fast FCP system. (It performs nearly as fast at the desktop system using a PCIe interfaced system.

Comments about MOTU V4HD FireWire Video Interface:
Motu has come a long way since the other issues mentioned before my post. Not only is their support up to par, their device is just great. I own one and plan on purchasing more. There is nothing that allows so much at such a price tag. This unit is exactly the same as the IO HD but better. It does every conversion known to man and it captures Prores and DVCPROHD nativley - no computer processing. WOW!!!

We use this device in our live setting to get us from Firewire to everywhere! It is our DA for stage monitor, I-mag, and audio and lighting control monitors. It needs a 6th star!!

Comments about MOTU V4HD FireWire Video Interface:
We've owned 2 V4HD's for 6 months. They are loaded with features that would be hard to replicate in any other unit in this price range, but we've had extensive issues with them working with FCP, and never did get it to work at all with CS3. When it does work with FCP, it works very nicely. But the FW800 interface is plauged by hardware and software issues. The physical FW800 recepticle on two units physically separated from the circuit board and have been returned to the factory. When it fails, the connection to the Mac and FCP becomes intermittent. There are also audio sync issues on playback. Have had to re-load software/firmware several times to restore functionality. Worst of all, the Motu tech support line delivers nothing but a busy signal every time we call, and web support is a pain. We'll be switching to AJA Kona cards on our FCP systems.

Comments about MOTU V4HD FireWire Video Interface:
1- To make corporative productions essentially but also pubs and broadcast elements for tv.
2- Quality enhanced a lot of the entire system even if we do not are Hd. We consider it as a big step to HD
3- The non-available interface with Premiere CS4 even if the software has been sold - nobody told that to us.
