I am converting mountains of paper into digital files. The scanner is a workhorse that does 4 letter-size pages per minute, i.e., a 60 pages document will need 15 minutes from begin to end. I can load the scanner and continue with other work. It does not always feed pages through straight. That is a very annoying and stupid shorctut manufactures often take with printers and scanners, namely to make the feeder roller as narrow as they are. A full width roller could cost very litle more but cause much better document feeds. I would love to have it read both sides of the pages but that would make it too expensive.

It is a decent automated scanner for the price, but not quite as good as I had hoped. For some reason, the auto feed NEVER gets the sheet straight onto the scanner glass; so each scanned page image has a slant. Also, for a lengthy document, the software conversion time is extremely long before the pdf file can be saved. I have not been able to locate any updated software from Epson. Disappointed.

One feature that is terrific is the multi form feed. It is so simple works wonderfully. I get a lot of paper that ends up on my desk that I now scan and keep off my desk.

I have not had the pleasure of using the scanner a lot; however, so far, it seems to be quick and has good resolution. It was easy to setup the scanner. I just followed the instructions and loaded the software onto my computer. Then simply scan your documents.

Comments about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 Flatbed Scanner:
I am truly enjoying my new scanner. I'm also a first time user of any scanner. Electronics isn't my forte and I was skeptical at first. But seeing as how my job position requires me to send multiple items, the fax machine was not my friend! So far, so good. I'm now considering purchasing one for home usage. Great product!

Easy install, just load software you want, unlike HP scanners that install 500 mb's of unwanted software. We own 4 of these scanners, they never jam and scan fast pdf files. B&H has the best price on this scanner.

Use for home office scanning. Much faster than my old one. Set up was not so bad. Like the feeder. Fits into my desk.
Dont forget to take it out of lock mode when installing it. Small switch on the side of the unit. Wish the feeded was 2 sided.

Comments about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 Flatbed Scanner:
This scanner works exceptionally well. The buttons can be set to work just about any way you want and the custom scanning options work very well. The OCR software that comes with it also works nicely and does an excellent job of reading documents and making them editable in MS Word. There are some things the OCR doesn't seem to handle well, such as black text on a gray background, but that is not a significant issue. Overall, a very good value for the money. One more thing... no waiting for warm up time because it uses LED technology... and that also means no lamp to burn out. This is not a high-volume, high production scanner... it is meant for a relatively small office environment with light to moderate use. We didn't try it much with photos, so I cannot say anything about that. Epson also has Linux software and drivers available on their web-site.

Comments about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 Flatbed Scanner:
Set-up was easy and item works very well. I needed to experiment with it to achieve optimal compression of multi-page files--documentation could have been better with helpful hints. The big problem is the line down the center of all scanned documents [and 2 additional lines on the left side]that started almost immediately. I am still waiting to hear back from tech support to see if anything can be done.

Comments about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 Flatbed Scanner:
This scanner does exactly what I wanted. It is fast (at low resolutions), it is reliable, it has a document feeder and it is reasonably priced.
Sometimes the document feeder doesn't see the paper and you need to play with it a bit but most of the time it works fine. The only time I got a failure feeding the paper was when it had holes punched in it.
Because it uses LED lighting (no warmup) it starts to scan almost immediately.
The software is the same old stuff that Epson scanners have been providing for a very long time. It works but the interface and function integration could be a lot better. Also, it lets you scan both sides of each sheet but there doesn't seem to be a way to get it to order the pages in the correct sequence in the final PDF file.

Comments about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 Flatbed Scanner:
The scanner was bought primarily because it had the ADF. Recognition by the ADF is good but not great. Many times I find myself playing with the documents to get the sensor to recognize the presence of a document. Beyond that (and that's what stopped me from rating the scanner 5 stars) the scanner is reasonably fast and performs quite well.

I wanted a scanner that had both a flat bed and a document feed. This Epson fills the bill. It was simple to install and is easy to operate. I have fed small stacks of documents and also used the flat bed. Both have worked with no problems and the scans look good. If you are looking for a small portable unit this is not the one. If you need to use a flat bed as well as scan in multiple sheets check it out.

We upgraded from the Epson 3490 and it is much faster on the scans, but find that it takes a few moments longer on the actual saving of the scan because of the OCR software. It uses the same main software but there are more programs to install to help the scan better. I think I installed an extra 3 programs from what I originally had. The scans do look much nicer though. Overall I would say if you are doing a ton of scans, the upgrade isn't worth it, but if you don't have a scanner at all it is a great scanner.
