This set of two Manfrotto Deluxe Autopoles are like the standard, but with a heavier duty locking mechanism. The locking lever has a safety lock in the handle and two position locking settings: one setting utilizes standard locking pressure lift, and the second provides extra pressure for a firmer hold.
The Autopole 2 Deluxe expands from 6.8 - 12.1' (2 - 3.7 m). It replaces old catalog #2950D.
- A spring-loaded tip combined with suction rubber cups on top and bottom provides greater security
- Floor to ceiling, or wall to wall fixing for strong vertical or horizontal support of lighting

I'm using these as a background supports in conjunction with the triple hooks and EXPAN system holding up 3 rolls of 2.7metre wide seamless paper rolls. They are fantastic - ultra sturdy, rock-solid, you can hang almost anything off these with total confidence. The tension leaver has two positions to give standard tension, or extra tension should you need it. My poles came with white protectors (top and bottom) which prevent black smudge marks on the ceiling. These poles are worth every cent.

I use Deluxe Autopoles along with two manfrotto 035 super clamps and two manfrotto 039 "U" hooks and electrical conduit to hang muslim backgrounds in a very small studio. The system works well but still requires clamps to stretch the cloth. Instructions aren't very clear but when you get it once it's easy.

I think the autopole system is great. I needed something in my narrow studio that didn't have three legs, so my clients could get the back office area. This fit the bill. It seems sturdy enough so far, I added the extension poles because my ceilings are about 14' high. Manfrotto always seems to make a nice, sturdy product. Haven't ever been disappointed yet. Product does need better setup instructions.

Bogen does things right and they do it cost effectively. I've always been impressed with the quality of their products and their ability to sell them at a reasonable price.
The Autopoles are another example of this. The just work and the deluxe version makes set up easier and faster than the normal poles and without
pinching your fingers or hand like is possible with the non-deluxe version that requires two hands versus the one-handed mechanism on the Deluxe model.
These are obviously great for hanging seamless and backdrop material, but they have so many other uses too: as light stands when space is tight and you may not have room for extended legs of a normal light stand; used horizontally between walls; use for hanging flat panel TVs, gallery displays of photos; even as assist poles for elder folks getting in and out of bed or seating.
The accessory tripod legs are great too and I have them on all of my Auotpoles for when the ceiling height exceeds the reach of the poles.
I'm always coming up with new used for them in and out of my studio space. They're like SuperClamps. Once you have a set you'll wonder how you did without them.
