Manfrotto 046R Expan Background Paper Drive Set with Red Chain and Weight
The 046R Manfrotto Expan Drive Set incorporates two expandable core units. One side has a large toothed gear to which a nylon link chain affixes, permitting convenient raising and lowering of the background paper roll. The other side has an adjustable tension drag. The double core units are unique in that when the overall screw on which the drive unit is mounted is tightened the drive expands from a minimum of 1.8" to 2".
To accommodate cored paper rolls in any length, all you do is insert the Expans at both ends, tighten up until they're snug and mount the entire assembly on your background holder hooks.
This item replaces old catalog #2920R.

I was presented with a unique situation in my studio as I needed a background system that would mount from the ceiling yet I could choose to modify the background width on the fly. I worked closely with a mechanical engineer to build the system but the missing link was the actual mechanism to hold the background paper securely in place while allowing it to be rolled and unrolled from the ground. The Expan Background Paper Drive Set was perfect! The system was installed and the magic happened the moment we added the Expan Drive Set to the paper roll. Without this product we would have no way to control how the paper comes off the floor in a controlled manner! I recommend this product to anyone who needs a professional background system at a modest price!

This is a great product for keeping your rolls of paper up out of the way when not in use. Even though it is verry basic, I recommend reading the brief instructions on your first use. Knowing how to properly connect the chain links made it a lot easier:-) I have several of these and would recomend the Manfroto drive sets to a friend. I have seen people with cheaper sets, and just remember that you do get what you pay for...

I have recently installed this in combination with a bracket that holds 6 rolls of paper and it works really great. It's fantastic quality, durable and very strong. I am using it for the 107 inch wide paper rolls and have zero complains.
