Comments about Manfrotto 091MCB Metal Chain for Expan Drive, Black 11.5' (3.5 m):

I had to switch from the plastic ones, which were just not working and snapping off all the time. This ones geet the job done, but the weight used for the plastic chain doesn't fit the metal one. They also twist and get tangled in little 'knots' often. I'll live with them as the are much better than the plastic, but I think the design needs some work, to avoid the twisting.

Comments about Manfrotto 091MCB Metal Chain for Expan Drive, Black 11.5' (3.5 m):

I bought this metal chain to replace the plastic ones that came with the Expan system, because the plastic ones are always breaking on me.

The metal chain is too wide to fit with the counterweight that came with the Expan system, and without the counterweight the chain hangs all crooked. The metal chain also rubs against the white plastic bracket and makes a loud clicking sound every time you raise or lower the paper roll. So not ideal, but at least it won't break like the plastic one.

Good addition of you are using more than 9' rolls of paper. Works great on the 12' rolls of paper and the smaller sizes of painted canvas. (Haven't tried on any wider than 9') I would recomend this upgrade to anyone using more than the 9' rolls of paper.

Like most Manfrotto equipment, this metal chain is rock solid, very reliable, and an almost necessary upgrade from the plastic chains included with Expan systems. Although disassembly of the Expan is required to install them, they're well worth the effort (which is minimal).

Comments about Manfrotto 091MCB Metal Chain for Expan Drive, Black 11.5' (3.5 m):

I purchased these to replace the plastic chains for the Expan set to get the extra strength and durability, and they are definitely worth it in that regard. I have 2 rolls of 12' paper for video work, each on one of these chains. The one thing I wish is that these were a little longer, as I intentionally wanted my backgrounds to hang higher, at about 12'. At that height, the chains are a little short and hard to reach/operate. I actually bought an extra chain and used it to manually lengthen the other two. Other than that, great product!

Don't take you chances if you use vinyl backgrounds.
Plastic one just don't cut it. Avoid danger and embarrassment of unwound and crashed background.

                  Buy it !!!

I recently bought the Manfrotto auto pole system which works great except for the CHEEP plastic chains that comes with it. I would pull as gently as I could and it would break every time. Not good in front of clients.
So I was forced to buy the metal ones.
I left messages, and emailed manfrotto but got no reply.
