The Gitzo GH2780 Center Ballhead is a lightweight magnesium ballhead that incorporates many innovative and state-of-the-art features. It is designed to match the range of high performance tripods available from Gitzo. Not only does it guarantee a high maximum support load, but it also offers many other improved features, such as: smoothness, minimized drift angle, low gravity center, greater tilt angles, compactness, ergonomics and safety.
Exceptionally smooth rotation, positive locking and rapid camera mounting are all features common to the Gitzo designed range of ballheads. The graduated base, with independent locking facilities permits perfect panoramic photography. The design of the panoramic base permits the ballhead to be used for table top or near ground level work with or without the use of a tripod.

Comments about Gitzo GH2780 Center Ballhead - Supports 30.8 lbs (14kg):
Solid ball head. It is alittle tight and the tension adjuster could be slightly better but it is a keeper.

Comments about Gitzo GH2780 Center Ballhead - Supports 30.8 lbs (14kg):
I own a Sony A-850 with battery grip and the Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 lens. This gear is one of the heaviest where there is no tripod clam on the lens.
Most ballheads I used or tried would have a very small drift when used in Portrait mode with my gear.
Now even with the flash attached the camera is completely steady. I love the horizontal panning option for large skylines.
It is not the lightest ballhead out there but the added weight is worth it. The small levels are all over the place and make it easy to level the camera.
One complaint would be that with a little bit of reflective or fluorescent material the process would be even easier in the dark
