I had been going back and forth on whether or not I wanted this bag. My mom was getting me one for Christmas. A lot of reviews I had read said it was too big (as in the straps didn't cinch down enough) and that it flopped around on smaller framed people. After going back and forth and not finding anything I liked as much as this bag, I ended up deciding to tell my mom to get me the Lowepro Inverse 200. I figured if I didn't like it, I could just send it back. That's not going to happen. I LOVE it. I haven't used it on an actual shoot yet, but I filled it up with what I'll probably be carrying on a normal shoot, including 2 extra lenses, my flash, and some other basic accessories such as batteries, filters and memory cards, and walked around the house with it. It barely filled half the bag. With my camera in there, there was still a bit of room left over.I don't know what people were talking about with it being too big/loose. I was able to tighten it up with lots of room to go smaller, with both the waist and shoulder straps. If I ever have a problem with the straps slipping, I'll just buy safety pins and pin it in place. I did have to put the plastic pieces of the shoulder strap up under the shoulder pad to make the shoulder strap shorter, but its no big deal. It doesn't sag (at least for the time I had it on) and has a TON of room... more than I need actually. I almost considered exchanging it for a 100 because it is SO BIG, but the difference in size is only 2 inches.I LOVE where it sits. I can rest my arm on it to steady for a shot if I need to and it's easy to spin to the front, side or back even with the shoulder strap on. I also love that it has the all weather cover, as i live in Michigan and the weather here is like Jennifer Aniston's hair... always changing. We also have a lot of beaches where I'll be shooting locations and weddings, so having the cover will be nice.Pros:-Price - Even at full price of [$] its worth it.-Room - It's HUGE. I have room for all the stuff I need and then some.. when I can get the 24-70 lens and battery pack for my flash, I'll still have room to spare.-Waist AND shoulder strap - Makes it very versatile and helps to keep it up where it belongs-Water bottle holders - I can easily fit my nalgene green bottle in it, which is a bit smaller than a liter sized bottle-Memory card pockets in the top flap for easy access. I haven't tried it, but I bet I could fit a battery in one if I wanted.-It sits at just the right spot to use to steady my arm while taking a shot.Cons:-I have to take my memory cards out of their cases to put them in the pockets, they need to be just a touch wider. I'm OCD and having the cards out of their cases drives me nuts.-The top flap is made to be able to pull open with 1 hand (it has a finger pull loop at the end of it). This is awesome. However, I wish it closed just as easily/quickly. It has 2 zippers that each have to be closed separately. I ended up threading an old point and shoot camera strap through the zippers to make a handle that connected the two so that I can close the bag just as quickly as I open it.Overall I would recommend this bag if you don't mind its size. It can be an advantage and a disadvantage. but really its not any larger than the regular camera bag I was carrying around before, and with the waist strap it doesn't flop around or fall off the shoulder like a regular camera bag would.

I primarily do family, event and nature photography. I've been looking for the beltpack that would allow me to travel relatively light but still carry my 70-200 zoom. I prefer the beltpack approach for doing this.

Seeing the release of the Lowepro Inverse series left me with hope based on description and my general experience with Lowepro bags. This bag however did not meet my expectations.

As usual with Lowepro the quality of the bag in construction is high and the the bag is generally versatile enough. The removalable/adjustable inserts allow for configuration as I like. In addition it is attractive.

It could use a few more pockers. However, my main complaint is that once loaded with my D200 and 18-20 zoom, the bag rolled over from the top when strapped around my waist. I could not figure out any combination of cinch straps or position that would alleviate the rollover. It just appeared the bag was too top heavy. I think a strap that pulled the top closer to the back would alleviate the problem.

Someone carrying lighter equipment or in a different configuration may not experience the same problems I had. For me I'm returning it and will continue my search for a usable beltpack.

I bought this to pack smaller lenses and teleconverters while I am carrying my big lens on a tripod. It was perfect for this.

I wished it had about 1-2 inches more in height so I could fit better my D7100 with the AFS70-300 VR lens attached.

This is a well made pack with great design and thoughtful layout. However, it is too big for this woman hiker/photographer. The pack hangs on waist/lower back in an awkward manner - even after numerous adjustments. I already cut off the tags so I can't return it. It's a wonderful pack for average/large sized photographers.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I have this bag. I did not buy this from B&H, but a local photo store, where I looked it in person. It is much less expensive here.

If you want everything easily accessible, without strain on your shoulder with a shoulder bag, this might work. Keep in mind it is bulky, and weighs about 1.7 pounds, but, I do not mind that as it is protecting my camera equipment.

Access to the top flap is in a sideways U shape. If you have it strapped to your waist, with the pack in front of your tummy, and you look down at it:
              - the bottom of the U is on your right, and the tops of the U are on your left.
              - the water bottle side is on your left, and the other side is a much smaller pocket, which is big enough to hold a large cell phone. It would have been better if the water bottle holder design could be on both sides, so you could choose which side you want to carry it.
I also agree with other reviewers about the water bottle holder. It would have been better outside of the main strap.
I am left handed, so the best way I found for my use, is to have it hanging in front of my tummy.
Keep in mind if you are right handed, it is ok. If you are a lefty, it is a bit awkward, but aren't most things in a right handed world. You adapt.

On a plus side, the front pocket area, attached to the hip connector parts, is roomy, and is attached across the bottom and about a half inch up the side.
Your equipment is accessible and well protected, but if you want a lightweight bag, this may not be for you.

Would I recommend it to a friend? Possibly. If they knew the limitations, and were right handed.

              Overall, I like the bag.
I "wear" it as a waist pack.
              I can reach my equipment.
              All is protected, and
I can still move about keeping my hands free.

The Inverse 200 AW Beltpack was returned immediately without even using it. As soon as I actually strapped it on I knew it was much too big to hike with. Also, I was not happy with the side bottle holders being placed under or inside the straps. I will try something a little smaller next time. Other than that it looked like it was very well made. I have owned Lowepro items before and was always very happy with the quality.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I have a few camera bags before, but during a recently trip going to Disney with my 7-years-old daughter I found I need a beltpack, because I had a backpack for clothes and kid's stuffs, my daughter wanted to sit on my shoulders to watch the parade, so the only place to easily access camera and lenses is the place in front of my tummy. :)

Looked at other people's online reviews, tried a few brands and models, it seems Lowepro Inverse 200 AW is the OK one, not perfect though. It holds my D700 body with 24-70 attached in the main 'room' (height direction is tight though, with lens cap and UV filter attached), a 70-300 lens and a flash in the left two 'rooms', and an HD camcorder on right, leaving another right 'room' for a small thing or camera straps if they're fat/wide. Good for day trip, easy to switch lens while I stand at the spot. If I attach the longer 70-300 lens onto D700 body, the main 'room' height is too tight for this combination (also with lens cap and UV filter attached).

In the main 'room', there's still room surrounding the lens, but that room seems not big enough for 24-70's hood (reversed of course). I didn't adjust the 'walls' to utilize the extra room, which can be used by camera's neck strap.

It's good to be able to attach a portable tripod on the bottom.

I do need use the shoulder strap to attach the two D rings to balance the bag. Agree with another reviewer, wish one D ring can be moved to front side.

With camera and lenses put in, it looks like a crab sitting on the table. :)

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I bought the predecessor to this bag over a decade ago and and it has remained my most used camera bag. Until now. The newly updated version blows that one out of the water with more storage capacity, more padding in the hip belt, a built in rain cover, and tripod carry straps on the bottom of the bag. As a travel bag, I can't think of anything else I'd ask for.
The bag comfortably fits my d800 body with 14mm 2.8 attached, two more medium sized lenses, charger and extra batteries, and a range of accessories. I could probably squeeze a flash in there too. Two adjustable straps on the bottom of the bag secure a travel sized tripod so when everything is put together, you have all the gear you'd need for a hike, bike, or motorcycle trip strapped comfortably on you waist. If you know how to properly adjust a technical backpack, this pack is a breeze, allowing you to move naturally without the weight of the gear being tossed around. It's just the right size to carry enough gear without being cumbersome.
If this is the type of bag you're looking for, look no further.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I bought it for an upcoming overseas trip. What I like about it is, that it fits my Canon 5D Mk II with 24-105mm L attached, my Canon 17-40mm f4 L, Canon 50mm f1.4, Canon 85mm f1.8, 77mm polariser, 58mm ND, Canon 500D close up lens, Lenspen, Giottos blower, and cable release. So, I can get more in it than some other reviews have suggested.

One complaint though, is the location of the D-Rings which are at the rear of the bag and very close together. This causes the bag to tilt forward when fully loaded. Now, I've worked both in retail, selling outdoor gear, and have also been an active rock-climber and hiker for over fifteen years now. This has given me the opportunity to sell, and use/test a lot of great designs. I know Lowepro to be manufacturers of good, solid, bombproof gear but I think they were just caught napping this time round. This is its only flaw and it is fixable though. I have managed to rectify this somewhat by clipping one end of the shoulder strap to the load stabiliser strap where it joins the front pocket. This means the shoulder strap is running diagonally across the bag and when worn this way, is quite balanced and very comfortable.

Admittedly, with time, this may cause stress on the attachment point and it might be a good idea to modify it by adding a D Ring there at some stage. In fact, for those who all ready own one and are experiencing this problem, it may be as simple as sliding a D Ring behind the side ladder lock buckle or front quick release buckle. If Lowepro could please add a D Ring or two, on the two front outer edges of the bag it would serve to greatly improve the balance and comfort of the bag. It would also change this product, one that is still very functional, into an excellent one.

If Lowepro could fix this one issue, then I'd happily recommend it.

I wrote an earlier review (10/18/2008, under the black version) that panned this bag because it drooped away from my body. It's been in my closet ever since. Well, I recently perused reviews for this bag, and a genius there discovered how to use the straps correctly: Let the side stabilizer straps all the way out before tightening the waist belt. Then tighten the side straps. How simple -- and it works! Of course, it's a bit of a pain to loosen the straps every time before cinching the waist belt, but this technique has completely rehabilitated the bag for me. My rating went from two to four stars. Why didn't Lowepro give instructions on how-to-use? Note: I actually bought the black version of this bag, but I have posted the review under both colors since users of both have had the same problem I had.

I had to carry a camera along with a first aid kit and water and pens and a bunch of other stuff around with me at a camp this summer. This case let me carry my camera with a long lens and a short lens and a spare battery a bunch of other stuff very conveniently. It works great. The camera gear is easy to get to and since it could've rained at any time, the included rain cover was nice to have.

Great Bag for my Fujifilm HS10 with enough room for my filters and Raynox 250 in the case, and still room for a few personal items.
This bag is very comfortable NO back or shoulder strain. The Padded shoulder strap is a great weight stabilizer. The camera compartment zipper give fast access. Have not had to use the rain cover as of yet but I am sure it will be a great feature. I would recommend this bag if you do not have lots of lenses to carry.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

The Lowepro Sideline Shooter I've used for many years has recently began to show its age, and after checking out the current crop of waist packs, I decided on the Inverse 200 AW. One thing that I never liked about the Sideline Shooter was its lack of tripod straps. Another problem I frequently had was losing accessory pouches as they slid off the ends of the belt. With the Inverse 200, both of those problems are solved. Dual, securely adjusting straps on the packs bottom safely hold my Redged mini tripod, and one accessory loop toward the front of each padded waist belt keep my extra gear tightly affixed to the pack.
The pack interior is almost as roomy as the lower half of my Lowepro Rover backpack, even accommodating my L-series 100mm-400mm lens vertically in the center compartment. Fully loaded, the weight can get to be pretty impressive, but the various adjustment straps allow the load to be fitted comfortably and with minimal shifting.
What makes the pack so voluminous is its increased height relative to the Sideline Shooter. That height makes it hard to use comfortably with a daypack, but there are packs like the Rover if you need additional cargo room.
The only potential negative is that the hip tension straps go across the two elasticized side pouches. Cinched tightly, they're likely to squash anything in the pouches that's squashable, and they can make it difficult to fish items from the bottom of the pouches with the pack on.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I bought this bag to replace a Lowepro Off Road model that I have carried for 10+ years. The belt pack plus shoulder strap design is very versatile, because you can use it with a day pack (for non-photo gear) or carry just with the shoulder strap, such as when traveling by plane.
I pack it with my Canon EOS7D, plus two lenses (18-135 and 70-300), Speedlite 580, spare batteries, charger, and small rocket blower. The compression straps on the bottom hold my mono-pod and a jacket. Outside pockets can hold water bottles. I got caught in a torrential thunderstorm while shooting a horse show and can say that the waterproof cover worked just as advertised.

I needed a camera bag for carrying a camera with a 70-200mm lens while downhill skiing. I have used a backpack bag in the past but it was difficult sitting on a chair lift and was not as accessible as I would like. It was adjustable and fit well whether wearing in back or front. I could easily ski with it in front or back. It protected the camera well. With a longer lens the camera is carried horizontally. Would have preferred to carry the camera vertical but then the height of pack would have not been comfortable while sitting and carrying it front. When the camera is carried horizontal the space is not well used. There is room for another couple of lenses / flashes, but the way the space is used it doesn't work well.

Comments about Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Arctic Blue with Black Trim):

I needed a waist/fanny bag to fit my digital SLR (Canon 5D) for when I go hiking. I love it's size and fit but...
I gave this bag three stars because the belt, while comfortable, just won't secure tight enough to support the bag when it's full. I had to use another strap of my own as a shoulder support. Fortunately the bag has two plastic loops to accommodate a strap. It is a great size and will fit my Canon 5d with a 70-200mm zoom, or with a smaller lens and plenty of room for additional lenses. I wish it would secure with just the belt straps but once you add the shoulder strap the bag is very versatile and great for romping through the woods or walking around town.
