I had back surgery several years ago and have had to use belt packs as my primary camera case since then. I have owned this Inverse 200 AW for about a month now and I love it. I have also owned a Lowepro Photorunner for about six years (also love it, as well as the other cases I have purchased from them) but this is a step up for the following reasons. 1) All weather cover!; 2) feels more heavily padded than is the Photorunner; 3) has more carrying space than the Photorunner (in the Photorunner's main compartment, I can carry a camera body with a lens attached and I could stuff in a flash in there, but I can also add a lens into the Inverse--with extra room, and the flash isn't cramped); 4) the lumbar covering is more comfortable when carrying for long periods of time; 5) the fit and adjustability/tightness seems to be much better on the Inverse; 6) there are special pockets for flash disks, other pockets for miscellaneous items, etc., so you will not run out of space within reason; 7) new dual zipper closure means that main compartment closes all the way, as compared to the Photorunner.

The bad? It is slightly bigger than the Photorunner, but just a little bit and I knew that going in. Also, eliminating the handle pull design of the Photorunner means better closeability on the Inverse, but it also makes it harder to open from that tightly sealed position. They have a finger loop on top which is supposed to enable you to pull back and quickly open the top with one finger, but in my experience, you will not be able to do that unless the case is slightly open. (I haven't tried the shoulder strap yet but it looks fairly wide and well-built with non-slip material).

This replaces my Photorunner as my general walking around/amusement park case. Sorry to sound like I work for Lowepro, I am really just a fan of this beltpack, and I have tried just about all of them.

I bought this Lowepro Inverse 200 after reviewing several different bags on line and visiting two local photo stores. Neither stores had the bag in stock yet, so I took a chance and ordered it from B&H. The bag is nicely made and looks durable. Almost all the photos at the Lowepro site and elsewhere show the bag being used as a beltpack (the name Lowepro uses) without the shoulder strap. That is exactly what I was looking for. I have a midsized backpack for all my gear but wanted something smaller and less of a hassle for day trips. I test fit my Canon 40D with 24-70 f2.8 L mounted and an extra 70-200 f2.8 L IS lens. It fit snuggly but handled it all including a couple of CF cards and a 77 mm filter.

I put the bag on and adjusted the straps and it was comfortable enough. The problem became apparent almost immediately upon walking around on an outing. The bag droops down away from the small of your back and all that wonderful ergonomic padding points up. I adjusted the straps to various combinations but to no avail. Ok, this is just too much weight for the bag. I took the camera out with the 24-70 lens on and the same problem occurred with just the 70-200 in the bag. Once again, I adjusted the straps to the point of discomfort but the bag just does not stay against your back and upright. I swapped lens to see if even more weight reduction helped and it doesn't.

I gave the bag two other trial outings and the same thing happened. Even with nothing in the bag, it droops away from the small of your back. By this time, frustration and the return time limit had come and gone. After looking closely at the Lowepro website and viewing the short usage video again, I resorted to the shoulder strap to see if that would solve the problem. It is better but, at least on my body, the strap cuts into my neck. This combination improved the sagging of the bag but makes it a pain to swing the bag around from the back to the front for better access while wearing it.

The end result is I have a bag that can be used in a pinch but is not what I wanted and not really what is advertized as a beltpack. In the video, there is only one picture for a few seconds showing the shoulder strap in use and a quick mention of it as an option. It is not an option. So if you are interested in a high quality bag that needs a shoulder strap, this may be a good choice. If you want a true beltpack bag, look elsewhere.

Comments about Lowepro Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Black):

I got this after pretty much filling a lowepro slingshot 302, and deciding it was to heavy to carry around for an afternoon walk. I wanted something to cary my D5100 and three lenses on a typical shooting day, leaving the rest at home. I tried it first on a three hour walk around Longwood Gardens, outside Philadelphia. As with other Lowepro products I've used, it is well constructed, and well padded both inside and out. I was surprised at how easily it rode on my hips, not noticing it after a while.Be aware, it is LARGE, the mother of all Fanny Packs. I'm 6'6" and 240 lbs, and it looks large on me, and was initially awkward to wear. The smaller version might be a better choice for most people. In general, I'm quite pleased, but it will take a few more uses to see if I am truly comfortable with the size.

This bag is much bigger than I thought (in a good way). It easily carries a D7100 with a battery grip and two lenses or a lens and a flash. the pack on the outside is awesome for other items including a book or water bottle.

          LOVE IT!

I was looking for something smaller than the backpack that I usually have to wear to carry all of my gear when I am out and about on vacation. Besides carry my larger camera on a vest, my smaller camera, two extra lenses, batteries, and miscellaneous smaller stuff all fits in this convenient waistpack. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It has proven to be a great find.

This is a great product for field photographers or wedding photographers working in tight, hard to move spaces where carrying a big shoulder bag just won't cut it. After shooting weddings for 24 years my back is just a little tender so I had to get rid of the shoulder bags. I use this belt pack with the shoulder strap included as a secondary support. Works awesome this way because I carry pro lenses and the weight starts adding up. So far my back is very happy. Oh, also, once you break this in a bit you can spin it to the back, hip or front.

I recently purchased this bag for a wedding I'll be shooting in May, but used it for the first time yesterday out in the snow for an engagement shoot and it was perfect! I didn't even feel it around my waist. I was using the shoulder strap in addition to it being strapped to my waist, just for extra support and it worked out amazingly. I'm a pretty thin gal, but wanted to get the Inverse 200 so I could fit more gear in it, and the size didn't get in my way in the least bit! Everything is adjustable so I just stapped it to my comfort level. Definitely recommend this bag for on-location shoots!

It's very versatile with a shoulder strap, waist belt and handle for carrying. I also love the weather cover that is tucked away underneath!!!

I got this as a strobist rig. It barely holds a couple of strobes, 2 lenses and a back. The tripod straps on the bottom are a nice touch. The interior is OK, but the external pockets are a puzzling disappointment. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the pockets.

I shoot with two cameras, so this is all I need once I set up with the cameras. I found that the camera straps along with the strap on the shoulder bag gave me the problem with the neck.

Comments about Lowepro Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Black):

I have had this about a month or so now and used it for several outings. It has met my expectations for a waist pack. It feels heavy and droops a bit when the whole thing is loaded, but once you take the camera out it is terrific.

I can carry my 6d with 24-105 attached, plus a 100-400 or 70-200 in one section and a flash in the other side section. The pockets are fine for carrying some filters or cables and the like. Once you take the camera out, it is light enough to wear on your waist all day. Makes hiking and shooting easy and much better than wearing something on your shoulders.

I saw some complaints about the strap being too long for women. I just took the strap off and reconfigured it a bit, and it fits me just fine. I took one of the ends and hooked it to the front of the bag though. It helps to snug it up to your back when wearing it.

I really like this pack. I like how it frees up my aching shoulders, puts the weight on my hips, and lets me maneuver the bag to get things out without having to take it off. I also liked the price. Your gear is well protected for a small amount of money compared to some of those very expensive bags.

Comments about Lowepro Inverse 200 AW Beltpack (Black):

This is a very nice bag. I can carry a 6d with the 24-105 mounted in the middle compartment plus a 70-200 and flash in the side compartments. You could swap out the flash for some other small lens as well. I can also put my 100-400 in that compartment in place of the 70-200 - both with the hoods reversed. I cannot mount those larger lenses though. So if I am shooting with those lenses, I have to take them off before I can stow them in the bag.

The bag is nicely made and the shoulder strap is very comfortable. There are some complaints that the strap is too long for women, but if you take it off and re-arrange it you can make it shorter. It fits me perfectly.

I got this bag because it is a waist pack and I need to get some of that weight off my shoulders. It works very well for this. I moved one end of the shoulder strap to an outside compression strap in the front of the bag. Then when I put the bag on, I make sure that side is on the outside to help snug the bag up against my back. It works very well this way and helps the waist belt stay in close instead of drooping outward. I hope this is clear - because this has made a big difference in how comfortable this bag can be when in use. And it is very comfortable with the belt and shoulder strap in use at the same time.

There is plenty of padding for your gear. So stuff will stay safe if you put it in the trunk or set it on the ground. All the nice little details, pockets and the like are here and the bag seems very durable. It is smallish - so there is not a ton of extra room. It wouldn't work for a waist pack if it was much bigger.

I like the bag and am sure it will last a good long time.

I bought this pack for it being a "beltpack" since I wanted quick access. It's bulky than I expected. I can fit my Canon5D III with the 24-105mm F4L lens with a flash gun as well as a longer zoom lens. But the fit is very tight. Instead I only put my camera with the GPS unit in it sideways. This way I can put my wallet, phone, a UV filter, keys in the free space. I also carry a backpack for the spare camera with all the lens and the flash gun.The rain cover is very nice but easily wear through by the tripod holding clips :( Have to be very careful. The bottle holder is useful. I use one for a bottle of water and the other one for my phone (samsung note 2) or I find I can put the camera remote control in it for quick access.Overall it's a great bag. It provides quick access but I need a second backpack for the extra gear.Complaints: The should strap is too long; the rain coat is too thin and can be damaged by the tripod clips.

Hard to find a better waist bag as I can't use a shoulder bag!
However, it is bit too small (can't contain a Canon 5D with a battery grip!), is has not enough pockets, the belt clip is not so secure and the strap is unconfortable.
                            The manufacturer has improvement appropriatenesses!

This is a great new addition for me and it is lightweight compact and I have been able to carry everything lens I would need to change out to during a shoot. The assistant loves it too because now it means no more running back and forth for gear from my backpack. I like the modular design and I added my LowePro Filter Pouch and the Lens Exchange Case as well to give maximum capability and flexibility for each shooting environment. The bag holds my Canon 5DMKII w/battery grip>100mm Macro (Mounted)>17-40mm> 430 ExII Speed Light> 10ft TTL cord>Shutter Release Cable, 2 Water bottles (Beer optional)> 2 memory cards> Tripod> and Rain Jacket. It does all this comfortably and easily throughout a long day of shooting. Thank you for making such a good bag. I wish you made a 300AW! {:>)

I needed something to carry and protect a body and two lenses when I hike, which is quite often. Living in the desert, I find a backpack great when that sort of space is needed, but for hiking, I much prefer a fanny pack. Thus, I was specifically looking for this type of article. I first saw it in a store in California and was intrigued. Waited until I returned a month later and decided I'd probably get it. Decided to try B&H, from whom I had never done business (although I had a great visit to their store in NY this past summer).

I am writing this after having had it for nearly 2 weeks.

Anyway, I find it to be very comfortable and handy for getting items out. I was hoping that my 70-300mm lens would fit, which it does when NOT on the body but does not when attached. This is a disappointment, but my fault since specifications say it is designed for up to a 200mm lens. It opens easily as advertized.

My biggest disappointment is that the adjustment straps go around the water bottle, which make it extremely difficult to access the bottle and then to put it back without taking the pack off. My way around this is to carry an over-the-shoulder water carrier, which has worked fine. Perhaps some external pockets on the top would be useful.

I am trying to figure out how I might carry my flash with it.

The bag appears to be very well made. Good price. I recommend giving it a try. I just wish that had a 300AW for a 300mm lens! That, though, might just be too big, but I hope they try it (and send me one for suggesting it!)

I wrote an earlier review (10/18/2008) that panned this bag because it drooped away from my body. It's been in my closet ever since. Well, I recently perused reviews for this bag, and a genius there discovered how to use the straps correctly: Let the side stabilizer straps all the way out before tightening the waist belt. Then tighten the side straps. How simple -- and it works! Of course, it's a bit of a pain to loosen the straps every time before cinching the waist belt, but this technique has completely rehabilitated the bag for me. My rating went from two to four stars. Why didn't Lowepro give instructions on how-to-use?

Bought this bag to carry my Nikon D7000, 16-85 and 70-300 lenses. Used the bag on biking and hiking trip to Jackson, Wyoming. Worked great - just needed to keep it cinched tight to avoid too much bouncing when hiking. Very satisfied. Only way to make it better would be to reposition the detachable shoulder strap and handle to attach more in the center of the bag instead of along the back edge - somewhat unstable the way it is designed now.
