The Kirk LP-47 Lens Plate is designed to take the place of the original tripod collar foot of a Nikon 500mm f/4 AF-S (I & II) or 200-400 f/4 AF-S VR lens, and to convert the collar to make it directly compatible with Arca-type quick release clamps, without the need for additional quick release plates. The foot is 0.875" shorter than the original Nikon foot, which helps to lower its center of gravity. Critical mass is also reduced, but the original Nikon design is still maintained, which allows it to still be used as a carrying handle.

Each adapter comes complete with all the necessary hardware and tools to make the conversion.

Durable
Machined from 6061T6 aluminum, and anodized to an unscratchable black satin finish
Double-Dovetail Cross-Section
Double-dovetail design allows attachment of additional accessories to the upper or lower surface of the plate.

Comments about Kirk LP-47 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:

I bought the Kirk LP-47 replacement foot for my Nikon 200-400VR lens. As with all my other Kirk plates and clamps the quality is top notch. The added length of the foot makes it much easier to carry and the built-in Arca-type plate means there is one less thing to come loose (as opposed to adding a plate to Nikon's foot). Installation is simple. Use the included allen wrench to remove the 4 bolts from the Nikon foot, replace it with the Kirk LP-47 and replace the bolts.

The fit and finish is top quality as is all the Kirk products I have tried. I would say that this is a must have if you own the Nikon 500mm f/4 AF-S (I & II) or 200-400 f/4 AF-S VR lens.

Comments about Kirk LP-47 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:

I have this on my Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR II lens. I use it with an arca mount ballhead (Markins with quick-release lever plate)and also with a Wimberley Sidekick. Absolutely no issues with either moutn.

I like that the Kirk foot base is longer than the Nikon's foot because it allows a lot of flexibility to balance the camera body and lens using the Sidekick. The D4 and D800 have different centering points with the 300mm lens, and this Kirk foot allows adjustment to center both setups.

The distance from the Kirk foot to the lens is a tiny bit larger than from the original Nikon foot to lens, but this does not affect the balancing and use in the Sidekick.

Installation was incredibly easy. Under 2 mins. as mentioned several times before, this longer foot base does make for a much more comfortable handle than the Nikon foot.

A must-buy if you have an arca mount.

Comments about Kirk LP-47 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:

I'm using the Kirk LP-47 foot with my Nikon 200-400VR lens. It is an ideal way to add arca-swiss compatibility to the lens. I prefer replacing the entire foot rather than bolting a plate onto the stock Nikon foot. Installation of this foot is straightforward - remove 4 bolts, swap the feet, replace the bolts.

The foot itself is beautifully milled and finished. It is silky smooth black anodized aluminum with rounded corners. It features two safety screws to help prevent accidental slide-out of the lens should the clamp loosen slightly.

There is sufficient clearance between the foot and the zoom ring to allow unrestricted zooming, even when wearing gloves. The foot also makes a nice handle!

I have mounted the Kirk LP-47 on my RRS lever clamp and it holds beautifully. It also fits fine on my Markins lever clamp which has been adjusted to fit my RRS camera plates. Of course there is no issue with my screw clamps either.

I think there is probably some inherent flexibility in the Nikon lens collar that is difficult to totally eliminate with a replacement foot alone. As such, while I have noticed an improvement in rigidity of my setup (Gitzo 3541LS, RRS BH-55) after installing this foot, it still isn't "rock-solid-perfect".

Considering the price of the lens itself, the small cost of upgrading the foot to this Kirk LP-47 is a non-issue. Highly recommended.

I got this along with the replacement foot for my new Nikon 200-400, the combination feels very secure. Very much in line with the othe products I have gotten from Kirk over the years, it's clearly well designed and well executed, and worth every penny!

Can be used on your Nikon 200 400 or on your Nikon 500 mm, has its own dovetail design, compatible with many manufacturers like Kirk, Wimberly, Arcaswiss, and so on. Reduces the weight as it replaces the original feet and it is ergonomically designed for easy carrying.

Comments about Kirk LP-47 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:

Required for stability and to also remove the extra weight of a quick release plate. This item also reduces the risk of twisting when mounted and acts as acarry handle that you can place a normal size hand around. No downside...great item.

I use the LP-47 with the Wimberley Sidekick on my 7.2 lb Nikon 200-400. (The stock Nikon foot is not compatible with the Arca-Swiss system)

In addition to being long enough to easily obtain balance on the Sidekick (adjusted by lateral movements), it makes a great handle for carrying the lens from case to tripod.
