The Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar is a replacement lens collar specifically designed for the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D ED-IF lens (Nikon #1985, push-pull version only). It is designed to provide maximum lens support.
Precisely machined from lightweight 6061T6 aluminum, the base is made to fit any Acra Swiss-type quick release clamp. In addition, instead of only one point of support, the NC80-200 provides an additional point of support for the lens at the other end of its plate.
Due to the design of this lens, the collar can not rotate. For vertical shooting, please make sure to use a ballhead that allows for 90° positioning.
Note! Only compatible with 80-200mm version #1985 (push-pull version)

Comments about Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D Lens:
Well built and solid, this collar mounts easily and quickly. The multiple mounting points provide solid footing for what is a 3 pound lens plus camera body. My only complaint is that there is no grippy sruface inside the collar, so the lens can turn in the collar when handled. But overall. a fine piece of very useful equipment.

Comments about Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D Lens:
It doesn't lock on the lens and there are no instructions as to how to use it. As best I can determine it may cradle the lens and take the weight off the camera, but it is rather amateurish and I don't recommend it. I wouldn't recommend putting it on the tripod without keeping your neck strap firmly around your neck. I can see the whole camera falling to the ground. The price is way too high for what you get. Color me disappointed.

Comments about Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D Lens:
I bought my 80-200 Nikon just month befoe they came out with a built in tripod mount. You don't just replace a 80-200 Nikon so I found a Kirk lense support that worked with my N-90. It was cumbersome but it worked sort of. When I made the move to digital I was disappointed that my Kirk bracket no longer worked. Unfortunately I have reached that point in life where I need a good tripod mount if I want tack sharp images, and as a professional I do.For the past 4 years I have used the lense with out any support. Even though my D300 and D700 have strong magnesium bodies the 80-200 is a lot of lense to hang off the front of a camera. The new NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D works much better than the old support. I love the way it fits on the lense not the camera. It is almost like having a built in tripod support. It is much easier to change lenses than the old support. I love the balanced feel of the whole system when mounted on a tripod. If you have one of the older 80-200 lenses and want a mount then I highly recommend the Kirk NC-P80.

Comments about Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D Lens:
The Kirk NC-P80 is a nicely designed collar for the Nikon push/pull 80-200 lens. Mounts solidly and easily to lens. Made for the Arca Swiss tripod mount but also has 3 standard 1/4-20 screw mount points for any standard tripod mounting system. Takes the weight off the cameras lens mount and puts it on the tripod.

Comments about Kirk NC- P80 Lens Collar for Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D Lens:
The NC-P80 fits the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8D push/pull lens snugly. Takes the lens weight off the camera's lens mount and puts it where it should be, on the lens. Relatively quick to attach and the Kirk collar will mount on any standard 1/4-20 tripod screw mount. You don't need the Arca Swiss tripod mount. There are three screw mount points on the base of the collar. Excellent product.

Easy to use.Solid construction.I have given lots of bad advise on how to solve the vertical problem with my heavy lens. Some suggested L bracket some thought I should replace my ball head, and NONE of them worked except this one.And thanks to people at Kirk who advised me about this item.
