I purchased this product because I own several DSLRs. Hand holding any video camera becomes difficult after just a couple of minutes and then things become shaky. This looked like it solved the problem of long or short tape runs. I proved it this past week.
I had to tape a dance show and did not have a clear area to shoot because the crowd immediately surrounded me. I had to hold the camera above the people's heads. I held the camera with the WristShot on my right wrist straight up in the air, then balanced it by holding the metal bar under the camera with my finger tips on my left hand. Clean, smooth sweeps of the dancers. My hand and wrist did not get tired. I came away from the event with a great video.
This device fit in my camera bag and I did not have to carry a tripod.

I found product uncomfortable and hard to use the camera the way it went on my arm. My wristshot would not lock into place all the time. Instructions were for the wristshot camcorder and not DSLR, would have liked the ones for DSLR. Pics showing how to use it were out of focus, not what I want to see for something made to stabilize images. Some people love this product, I did not.

Comments about Hoodman WristShot DSLR Support System:

I thought this would be a great solution to arm fatigue. I shoot using a 100-400 zoom lens on a Canon 5D mark III, so it's a bit of weight. It took maybe 20 minutes to work out how to set the angles for comfort, but I expected as much. Quality seems great, especially for the price, and given how much any ball joint costs nowadays. But I find I just don't use this. It feels cumbersome, it's not all that fast to put on (so if I'm using it, I pretty much keep it on all the time), and I think a monopod that reaches either to the ground or to a belt holster is a far more agile system that also supports the weight better.Giving it 4 stars because I think if you're into it, it's probably a good system, and it's very well made and reasonably priced.

Comments about Hoodman WristShot DSLR Support System:

Take your time adjusting for proper fit. I only spent a few brief moments setting this up for the first use. After 20 minutes of shooting, I realized it was just not quite right and was beginning to cause some fatigue on my wrist from trying to compensate. After taking my time to adjust it properly, the second shooting session was a breeze! The camera started to feel like an extension of my arm. Awesome for certain "run and gun" shots needing to be at shoulder height.

Comments about Hoodman WristShot DSLR Support System:

I am a professional swimwear photographer who has started getting into DSLR video woth my Nikon D7000. I wanted to shoot handheld it just feels right to me. But with pro glass on like my 28-70 2.8 the rig was too heavy to keep steady. This fixed it. With a lighter 50mm or 35mm fixed lens it is even better.
Product setup and use is very easy I had mine set in minutes. I only rated this 4 stars because of the build quality of the quick release adapter. The catch could be better designed. But at this price that is just being picky.
Stop reading this and just buy it you will love it for the money.

I am still testing it. I haven't used it for work yet. Let a friend borrow it to shoot a school assembly with his dslr he loved it. I am sure that using it at work will make life a lot easier and let me be more creative. Two reasons that I did not give five stars that the hardware could be a little beefier, the other was I was told that the video camera plate would fit my 501 video head the profile was the same but it was too narrow.

Comments about Hoodman WristShot DSLR Support System:

I bought this product to shoot a live music video with my DSLR and it worked wonders for me. I used it the whole night with a heavy lens and light and my arm was just fine the morning after, no pain or soreness. I also love the nice stabilization it gives to my shots. It looks like I shot it with a glide-cam. I can easily dolly in/out with it and my steps are barely noticeable. The most important thing is that it leaves your other hand free to focus/zoom the lens. It's very customizable and I love the overall professional construction. It's not flimsy. It was a great find for me.

This is a great relief for carpal tunnel on long photo shoots where I sometimes take 100's or even 1000+ photos. I would sometimes find myself having a hard time just holding on to the camera by the end of the shoot, let alone holding the camera steady. I have used this twice now and it has been a life saver both times.

[...]HUGE disappointment. First of all, it was so obvious that the product had been bought and returned. Second, the instructions were for a camcorder....there are not instructions/directions for a DSLR...only a sticker on the front of the box proclaiming that it was "Configured for DSLR cameras". [...] What a joke!! The quality of the "metal" components truly is lacking. I have a cheap tri pod that I purchased from one of the big box retailers that cost half as much as this and is far superior in quality. Hoodman? No! Hoodwinked!

From fight sequences to dolly shots, this lightweight support system in comfortable and versatile.
