Product Highlights
  • Single Bar Jib Arm
  • 3' (0.9 m) Reach Past Pivot Point
  • 6.5 lb (3 kg) Capacity
  • Camera Platform Tilt Capability

The 5029 CobraCrane I is a single bar jib arm for small camcorders. This crane offers an 8' (2.4 m) reach when matched with a 5' tripod (not included) and can sweep the ground for low-angle applications. Mounting the crane on an available tripod with a fluid head adds tilt capability.

Note! Tripod and head are sold separately.

Camera Movement
From the ground level the camera can be tilted up over 90°, allowing the user to obtain a great perspective shot. Sweeping vista shots of landscapes, panoramas and sporting events are possible. The over the top shot is also ideal for cooking videos, food marketing videos, and variety of higher perspective shots.
Camera Tilt
In basic configuration, the camera platform stays set and does not tilt as you crane up and down. However, mounting the crane on an available, suitable tripod with fluid head allows you to tilt the fluid head and have the cranes camera platform follow the motion of the tilt.
Quick Set-Up
This device is easily assembled with a quick no-tool set-up system.

At the end of the day if the rental houses are all out of jibs this can get the job done, but it's relatively flimsy and unstable. If you're going to use a jib a lot you want to invest in a more expensive model. If you just want add production value to an indie film this is a great way to get some bang for your buck.

This jib is a single arm that weights roughly 13lbs. If you attach it to a video head, you can tilt the camera up and down. It does not come with counterbalance weights. It comes with a quick release plate (same fitting as the manfrotto 501pl). The company makes good products and was always prompt and courteous when answering my questions about the crane and tripod support. .........

          Comments about 5029 CobraCrane I:

I recently purchased the CobraCrane to use for music videos with a Canon 7d, so far so good! This is my first time using a crane so it takes some getting use to but after a few hours (if that) of practice movement becomes better.

The only downfall with the product is that all the weight of the crane sits on one side of your tripod, which makes it a little annoying to level.

Other than that, I think this crane is great for someone on a budget but is still looking to get great smooth shots. The CobraCrane comes ready to use right out of the box with very little set up.

One more thing....If using with Manfrotto MVH502AH head, having another person to help attach it to the tripod will make things a little easier. I say that just because the locking knob for the QR plate on the pan head is in a not so good place and is a little hard for one person to hold the crane and lock it down at the same time.

We began using this jib during a re-shoot in our studio for a commercial and WHAT a difference. You must have a very good tripod for this to work, or find a good, strong ladder for even better height and movement. A great product for the price, that's for sure.

                Comments about 5029 CobraCrane I:

I bought the crane for use with home video tours and it's worked out great. With anything new there takes some practice with it for smooth shooting. Anything longer than the 3" reach of the CC 1, I would highly suggest a monitor. For under $300 you can't beat the nice sweeping shots this crane produces. Do not chince out on getting a heavy duty tripod head! I wound up with a Mnafrotto 3039 after almost snapping off a Sanford Davis v12. I running a Panny TM-900 camera so the weight is negligable but the rig seems like anything under 10lbs would float nicely. Thinking about getting the extension and a monitor in the near future. The axis point could be a bit more snug, but that is the only criticism I could possibly come up with. I was dissapointed about the $75 carrying bag, if you don't get it there isn't much out there to use. I have someone who sews so getting a duck canvas one made but they should have a cheaper solution.

I am using this jib in the production of a promotional video for a college. So far it's been great. The movement is very smooth and getting me some great shots. It is a heavy, but that I assume is a trade-off for durability.

Great product. Very smooth and fluid movement. I was needing a jib for online videos and the size was great and the price was within my budget. This product adds a lot of production value at a low cost. Its easy to set up and one person can quickly set it up on a tripod. I would reccomend using it with a large and heavy tripod for stability.

The simplistic design makes operating easy out of the box. The crane arm alone is relatively heavy, and not very portable. I used this the same week I bought it for a wedding and it turned quite a few heads as an impressive and professional piece of equipment. Make sure you have a compatible tripod or method to mount the crane.

only drawback was the attachment did not fit my tripod, but I used the one that came with my tripod and it worked.

Perfect video footage, use and canon T2i FX1000, a little heavy for transportation, you get great shots.

Used to make movies for educational DVDs in decorative painting.
Easy to mount on tripod, easy to manipulate.
Would like small weights included in package.

It's a good crane if you're using a light camera/camcorder. Easy to carry, easy to attach to the tripod, and easy to use. You don't have to be an expert to take great footage with this crane.
