It is nice to finally have some type of case to fit my D700, with a zoom lens. Other than the awkwardness of the in/out of a case that is attached to camera strap, I am just happy to have something that offers some type of protection without the weight and bulk of a full camera pack.

I wanted a case to protect the camera while I had it outside the backpack. My usual lens is the 28-300mm zoom and with this setup, the camera barely fits in the case. It fits, but the velcro just barely overlaps enough to close the case. The case also would be much more useful if it had a strap. When I take the camera out of the case I'm stuck holding the bag, so to speak.
If you have no case at all, this is better than nothing.

This case is the perfect complement to carrying your camera via the strap on your shoulder. When I set my camera down in a restaurant or have it in the car or just carrying it around in general, it will be protected from bumps, dirt and scratches. This is perfect for when you have one lens and you want to protect your camera.

Excellent quality of soft leather. Fits the camera and regular size lens ... I highly recommend this product if you don't carry anything else other than the camera and lens. Not for all standard zoom lenses!

I bought this case for my D700 with a Nikon 28-300 mm. It [...] is large enough for the 28-300 mm. However, like the CF-D200 case for my D200 it can be a bit cumbersome to use as you have to hold the case with one hand or place it somewhere while using your camera.

I bought this case along with a Nikon D700 body and 50 mm f1.4 G lens and it fits perfectly with the lens hood attached. It is very well made and affords reasonable protection for the camera and lens even though it lacks padding. When the camera is removed the case will hang from the strap, but can be easily be unattached from the strap by a snap closure on the case. It would be nice if Nikon included a leather strap with the case as the overly commercial nylon strap that comes with the camera is not very classy.
