I naively thought that this device had the ability to increase the power to a particular speaker channel, but it is not an amplifier.
It does however allow you to decrease the volume to a particular speaker channel or turn it off altogether.
I used it so that I can turn off my outside speakers so that I can play music inside without disturbing the neighbors. Also, because my outside speakers are much smaller than those on my main stereo I used this to decrease the volume inside the house so that it is not blasting when I want to play music both indoors and out.

I wired the selector box exactly the way I wired my old box and it did not work at all. I could not get any sound out of the unit no matter what I selected. Had to send unit back for a refund.

This is great! We can now have music going on 4 different sets of speakers at a time and all at comfortable volumes. We used to have problems with how loud you needed to turn the music up so you could hear it in the kitchen and then no one could have a conversation in the other rooms due to the level of the sound. Well no more, we can adjust that with no problem so enjoyable. The ease of installing and the fact that we don't need power are 2 pluses. To this point I have found no negatives

This speaker selector switch is one awesome unit. It's controlling 3 sets of speakers from 1 stereo receiver. The first thing I noticed was the weight of the unit, it feels sturdy and constructed well. Very easy to install and works flawlessly. The sound coming through this unit was not affected in the least bit.
