The Photographic Solutions Sensor Swab Plus with Eclipse for Type 2 Sensors is a reliable cleaning fluid designed to clean CCD/CMOS chips. It is also secure for other optical and imaging surfaces.
The swabs are produced in clean rooms to the highest possible standards . These swabs, coated with Eclipse, a special Tin Oxide cleaning solution, leave no visible residue (less than 5 parts per million (ppm).
When used correctly, and in accordance with instructions from both Photographic Solutions and your camera manufacturer, this product will not cause any damage to your sensor.

I had anticipated this moment for 3 agonizing days. It was now time to swab my sensor. There I sat, alone in solitude, ready to swab my sensor. I carefully opened the packaging and removed the first of 3 sensor swabs. My hands began to tremble as I held my swab, admiring it for its perfect size and shape. As I grasped my swab, my body became tense and it seemed like everything else in the world just disappeared. I was filled with satisfying pleasure as I began to slowly and gently pass my swab across the delicate sensor. I began to swab faster and faster as my heartbeat raced. My swab was now fully extended inside the the body of my Canon 20D. Finally, my hand began to spasm just as my sensor shined gleamed with perfectly un-refracted beams of beautiful light. I gently removed my swabs from the camera with total satisfaction.

I was able to clean my Digital Rebel with only two swabs but with how low the sensor was on my 40D it took 3 and it was not completely clean, I had to use another brush to clean out hair pieces that get stuck in the chamber above the sensor. I think I need to push harder but it seamed like the swabs were a little too big for the 40D. I think for cleaning you need a static brush a magnifying glass, that you do not need to hold, and this product for smudges on your sensor.

These were highly recommended for cleaning the sensors on just about any camera out there. After it's use my image was noticeably sharper. I think someone may have wiped the OLPF with an oily cloth to get some dust off at some point.
Either way, it is quick and easy and most importantly it does a great job.

I took some photos of a pure-blue sky (out of focus but with a small aperture) and ramped up the contrast and brightness in Photoshop Camera RAW. No big chunks of grit but a few spots were visible.
I'd used a Rocket Blower prior to examining the sensor images. The first cleaning left some spots near the edges and re-using the RB cleaned out a couple of them.
Second swab did better. Higher contrast in PS/CR shows a couple of spots but at the previous adjustment settings I can't see them.
I suggest you save the adjustments you used on the pre-cleaning image. Otherwise with enough tweaking of the settings you'll be seeing junk you'd never have seen in the initial inspection -- or in real images.

I can understand feeling intrepid about cleaning ones sensor but Photographic Solutions Sensor Swab Plus doesn't make it any easier. Fits the sensor perfectly - 2 passes and done. Worked perfectly. Tutorials galore (website and youtube) show you just how easy it is.

I scratched my sensor with this product. Most likely my own fault - but I would never use it again. If you're going to use these, be VERY careful to follow the instructions. If it doesn't work the first time, use extra swabs, never the same one. I used 8 and never managed to get the sensor clean. I understand that sometimes a wet cleaning is necessary, but I couldn't get the edges of my sensor clean at all with this product, and in the process of trying dragged something across the surface of my sensor, scratching it. I also had issues with streaking.

I've been disappointed by products before, ranging from the dinosaur sponges I bought in my youth during primary school to the 4-pack of Fentiman's Orange Jigger I once mistakenly imbibed. Notwithstanding the 4-star review, this product proved to add film, streaks, and dust to the sensor during cleaning. With each subsequent swab I was forced to remove the artifacts left behind by the previous. Now that the package is depleted I must buy another to square this circle, and by registering my disgust I am hoping some kind soul will save me from oblivion and steer me toward a better product.

There was this stubborn bit of dust on one of the corners of my sensor which was left behind after cleaning the sensor with my blower and Lenspen. I suspected that bit was welded on, and if that's the case, gotta use a "wet method". These swabs got rid of that welded dust to my complete satisfaction. Had to use two because I don't think I applied nearly enough pressure on the first I used. They're super-easy to use - set the camera to manual clean, unwrap a swab, start from one edge of the sensor, work your way across with enough pressure to bend the handle until you reach the other edge. Without lifting the swab go back across the sensor until you reach the original starting edge. Four are included for the type 2 crop sensors like the Canon EOS 7D and Rebel XSi. They're pre-moistened and individually wrapped. Really, the only downside is the price, but I understand that these swabs are manufactured in a highly sterile environment, with refined methanol (the cleaning agent) which can be highly flammable. You could bye the dry swabs and the Eclipse cleaning solution (the methanol I mentioned earlier) seperately, but that's even pricier. So, I'd rather go with these pre-packaged swabs when I need them.

My 7D was starting to show lots of signs of dust, dirt, smudge, grime, whatever you want to call it. I read carefully about whether or not to send my camera in to have the sensor cleaned or if there was a safe way to do the job myself. I watched the product "how-to" video on Sensor Swab's web site. And the product worked exactly as advertised. It did take two swabs to get the sensor clean.
Next time I need to clean the sensor, I will also be setup better. Next time, I will have a perfect white piece paper, shoot 3 exposures - darker, proper exposure and over-exposed. Load those to my computer for reference. After each swab, I will repeat the test shots and immediately load them for comparison. I sort of did this last time, but I wasn't really all set when I started. I took too much time and left the camera open longer than I should have. Live and learn....

I got a few of these and some of the swabs were dried out. I emailed BH about it and didn't want to send the little packet back for a replacement, so I was told to try contacting Photographic Solutions about it (if I didn't want to send the little packet back.) After contacting Photographic Solutions, I got a quick reply back and was sent new packets for free and was told what BH must have sent me some older packets. Anyways, it's a good product, it's easy to use, and both companies had good customer service.

Easy to follow directions and did an excellent job on removing dirt spots on my sensor. I had multiple spots showing on the pictures and after only one cleaning they were all removed. Could not be more happy with this product.
