The 58mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze HD (High Density) Filter from Hoya is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs.

This filter, with its hardened glass, has 4x the tensile strength of traditional filters of similar fabrication. This filter is also of great use in today's digital market where sensors are more sensitive to reflected light. Hoya incorporates special coatings that reduce these internal reflections and, thereby, promote a clearer, brighter and sharper image. The multi-coating used in this filter is made up of 8 layers on each side that promote 99.35% light transmission.

Hoya is one of the largest manufacturers of glass in the filter industry. In collaboration with its parent company, Tokina Optical, Hoya continues to strive to produce some of the best glass on the market. Currently, they hold 40% of the world's market for optical glass.

The advantage of most Hoya filters is that Hoya puts, at least, one layer of anti-reflective coating on each side of their glass. It is not bare glass. Even if the glass is not multi-coated, this kind of production tends to minimize flare and ghosting.

Comments about Hoya 58mm Ultraviolet UV Haze HD (High Density) Digital Filter:

Unlike other filters I have used, IQ is not visibly diminished by using this filter. That, and the fact that it serves as a cheap insurance policy against damage to the front lens glass makes this a clever buy.

        Great filter for price

Comments about Hoya 58mm Ultraviolet UV Haze HD (High Density) Digital Filter:

Bought this because it was highly reviewed here and elsewhere. I use it on my Panasonic 35–100 mm F2 .8 lens. No discernible difference and image quality between picture shot with and without it. At this price, it is a no-brainer for use as protection for the front element of a fairly expensive lens. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Hoya 58mm Ultraviolet UV Haze HD (High Density) Digital Filter:

I have bought Hoya clear UV filters to help protect all of my professional lenses for years and have never been disappointed. This filter is a great choice and has a thin lip. The only down side to the thin lip is if you have an item like a expodisc for white balance, you have to hold it in place as the thin rim will not hold the small ball bearing clips in place so it can slip off. I would not call that a defect as that is the way this filter is designed but just thought I would mention it

Always buy a high quality filter for a high quality lens. It may cost more, but why sacrifice your photos for the sake of saving a few dollars. The filter should last the lifetime of your lens and give it great protection from dust and scratches.

Been using Hoya filters for over thirty years!
Using this filter on my OMD EM-1 40-150mm zoom lens.
Made sure the lens was clean then easily screwed on the filter. Should never need to take it off. Protect that valuable lens with a UV filter!

This is my second Hoya filter, and I was, again, surprised by the quality of the product. Bought it to use with my Canon EF-S 55-250 MM lens.

Best, high quality filter I have ever used on my zoom lens! Seems to transmit a bit more light through the lens with utter clarity compared to other lens filters I've used.

I bought the Hoya UV HD filter for a Canon kit lens. The EFS 18-55 usually performed well except with sunset/sunrise and backlit subjects. I decided to try this filter before sinking big money into a better lens and I'm glad I did. My images, in trickier lighting situations, look sharper with less flare.

I use this filter to protect the lens on my Rebel T3i. All my lenses have UV filters. (It's the cheapest insurance you can buy.)

Other filters/close-up lenses easily screw into the threads of this filter, helping you avoid the need to remove it.
