Comments about MXL MicMate Pro - USB Adapter Interface for Microphones with XLR Outputs:

I haven't done extensive recording with this yet. I promarily purchased it as a present for a musician who is starting to record her work. I tested it out and it works great! Feels a little cheap and I don't like that when plugged into a mic the controls face the rear making them inconvient to adjust.

The sound quality is very good. The gain control is very useful. It is user friendly. It even came with a usb cable that I wasn't expecting. I edit with final cut and I use the MicMate Pro for voice over and I am very pleased with the results!

Comments about MXL MicMate Pro - USB Adapter Interface for Microphones with XLR Outputs:

The only problem I have so far is that I don't get audio from my headphones when I plug in, I'm not sure if it's the interface's fault or my MXL microphone, but either way, it works when I need it and the gain and volume adjuster is really nice.

Comments about MXL MicMate Pro - USB Adapter Interface for Microphones with XLR Outputs:

I am an independent musician and when I am NOT recording at a professional studio, I have a set-up at home to do rough drafts/etc. I have the MXL Mic Mate Pro hooked up to my MXL microphone. This Mic Mate Pro provides phantom power & connects directly to my macbook. No reason to have a weak tube pre-amp & millions of feet of XLR cords anymore.

PROS: Super Easy Set Up (I can plug it in & record), Super Light Weight (easy to travel with, seeing how I use a macbook, I might record at home, a friend's house, a vacant warehouse, etc), Headphone & Gain Controls directly on the piece (this is a HUGE improvement compared to other XLR/USB converters, including other MXL products), Sound is super clean and sometimes I will record vocals at home to have them mixed and mastered at a professional studio - This saves me money, as I do not need to pay to record my vocals and just have the mixing/mastering which is going to be time I'd be paying for normally anyway.

CONS: I feel like the Headphone Volume should be able to go a little louder. I have to control that on Adobe Audition (the program I record in) if I need it to go louder than what is capable on tool itself.

Comments about MXL MicMate Pro - USB Adapter Interface for Microphones with XLR Outputs:

I use this as a pair of my condenser mic.
                It produce good result.
But if you pull up the gain, I can hear quite distinguishable white noise from it.
And you must put it on cushioned surface during recording since it can pickup rough knock.
The headphones output also been useful to check my setup.

I use the MicMate Pro for Podcasting and for recording screencasts. It keeps me from having to do complex set-up of an amplifier. I just plug the microphone into the MicMate and the MicMate into may laptop. The sound is very clear and set-up and use is so easy. The pre-amp doesn't seem to have a lot of power for high-volume recording, so I don't know how well it would work for recording music. But it's perfect for podcasting and screencasting.

MXL is one of my new favorite lower cost / great quality go to companies for audio gear. I bought this to hook up one of thier large diaphragm mics to do voice over work in a home studio. Has gain control and headphone jack all in a tight little package that I hook up straight to my mic from a usb 2.0 port. Love It!

I use it with my mac and MXL V63, everything goes so smooth and easy, now my mac can record higher tunes clearly than the build-in mic. The only thing still bothers me, is the noise while recording, probably it is not due to this device, I am looking for a solution for this problem. After all it is a great product according to it's functionality and reasonable price!
