If you don't want to have to take the lens cap on and off your LX3 every time you use you camera and don't mind the extra size buy this a put a 46mm UV filter on it. I just keep the Panasonic .75x wide angle lens on mine almost all the time. Both well worth the money.

of course perfect device, essential for professional lx3 use, but like all panasonic accessories a bit overprized (the third-party adapters with 52 mm are as good...)

Comments about DMW-LA4 Lens Adapter for Panasonic DMC-LX3 Digital Camera:
This adapter feels strong despite the fact it is very light. Fit and finish are very good, as you would expect from an OEM productOn the negative side, three things:(1) A 46mm filter thread is not very common, so I wonder why Panasonic didn't make the adapter (and the wide converter that goes with it) with a filter thread just 3mm wider to get to the much more common 49mm size. That would have made it easier to find 3rd party filters and other accessories that fit. (2) While a low-tech screw thread at the camera end of the adapter makes for a snug fit, it is not as quick and easy as turn-until-it-clicks designs. Use of a screw thread here means you have to take your time to ensure the two threads are properly aligned so as to avoid damaging them when attaching the adapter to the camera. (3) I think the thread on the outer end of the adapter tube would have been better made of plastic. This would avoid metal-on-metal scraping (particularly noticeable when attaching the wide converter) and would also avoid the often all-or-nothing nature of metal-to-metal gripping. The latter is not so much of an issue with the converter (which you can get a good grip on for unscrewing) -but with filters all too often they either grip the adapter too tight or too loose and nothing in between.

The n00b named Jason who wrote the review that said 46mm filters don't fit this adapter, can safely be ignored. I've got plenty of 46mm filters and they all fit the front threads of this adapter. He probably tried to mount something other than 46mm. Pay attention to what you are doing, n00b.

The PADMWLA4 conversinon lens adapter was exactly what I ordered. I have been able to take nice close up pictures of some of my flowers. I am very satisfied with not only the adapter tube, but how B&H came through again. Small purchase or large I learned to trust this company to do the right thing.

Comments about DMW-LA4 Lens Adapter for Panasonic DMC-LX3 Digital Camera:
This great little adapter allows for use of filters with the Panasonic LX3 or Leica D Lux 4. There's no vignetting, and the photographer can use a polarizer or other filters while making photographs.
Relative inexpensive, and definitely a good value for the price.

Need this to add filters or conversion lens. Only problem with it is, it will block light from your flash when your lens is set to max wideangle.

This adapter is indispensable for me as a place that I work with filters (UV, Polar, ND), as well as Panasonic DMW-LW46 46mm 0.75x Wide Angle Conversion Lens for DMC-LX3, which I use frequently.

Comments about DMW-LA4 Lens Adapter for Panasonic DMC-LX3 Digital Camera:
This adapter screws around the lens casing (first unscrew a ring on the camera) and lets you add 46mm filters. I tried it stacked with a skylight and polarizing filter, and did not see any vignetting at the edges, so that right there shows the design in good. Other than some make-shift filter holder, this is the only real way to use filters, so even though it is a few steps process, I consider it essential.
I did buy a lens cap as well, but with the adapter in place, the camera is really too bulky to fit in a pocket. If I were walking around taking lots of photos, I would leave it on. Otherwise, I will put it on and off as needed.

Finally, a way to use filters with a pocket camera without a lot of added claptrap. Not as easy as with a DSLR, but fairly direct. You unscrew the lens ring first. (I clip it to the lens cap, which is attached to my camera by a cord.) Then you carefully screw the adapter to the threads thus exposed. I find it easier to screw the filter to the adapter before putting it on. I have not tried it with the wide-angle auxiliary lens but I see no reason not to expect it to work well. The only real drawback is that it is tricky to get it square on the threads. And it's another thing to carry.
Comments about DMW-LA4 Lens Adapter for Panasonic DMC-LX3 Digital Camera:
You can't attach anything to the LX3 without this essential bit of kit. [...] This allowed me to put the conversion lens on and the nice thing was that even if I didn't want to use the conversion lens I could turn it off on the Lumix and still use the 24mm to zoom in and out (no zoom possible when the Lumix is set for the conversion lens).
