The Nikon MS-SD9 Battery Holder is the replacement battery tray for the SD-9 Battery Pack, used with the SB-900. The tray holds up to 8 AA batteries.
Having a spare battery holder available allows you to quickly swap batteries during a wedding or fast-action shoot.

Since it takes a while to replace batteries into the Nikon External Battery pack, don't get caught without this if you do weddings, and other events!

The MS-SD9 is an excellent spare to keep on hand if you have an SD-9 Battery Pack & the SD-900 Flash. It comes with it's own case so you can keep it in your pocked - so it won't dead-short on you.
I find that the flash itself will run down before the Battery Pack so I keep this second unit full or rechargables - that I then swap out with the drained flash ones. (I get just a little over 500 pics before this needs to take place.) I have both the extra battery pack - as well as individual sides marked - so that I know which ones are out of charge and which ones are fresh.
All in all a great product to have.
