A tripod head is required and not included with these legs. Be sure you purchase a tripod head to attach to your camcorder.
The Alan Gordon Enterprises 1004-HIHAT-75 cast aluminum Hi-Hat works with the extra long tiedowns used on 75mm bowl Bogen and Sachtler fluid heads. The three legs are drilled with 3/8" holes for mounting it to a wood or metal plate.

As with all film and video specific items, it's a bit over-priced, but it's of excellent build and craftmanship. It's extremely stable and gets the job done.

Ordered this hi hat for use with my Sachtler FSB-8 head. There's not much else to say other than it does what a hi hat should, and is a lot cheaper than other comparable brands.

Comments about Alan Gordon Enterprises 1004-HIHAT-75 Hi-Hat Support:
Like much of the specialty tools of the film and video trade, hi hats are overpriced chunks of metal. But they get it done, and this Alan Gordon 1004 is a very nicely crafted piece of metal. Almost a work of art. When a hi hat is the only solution for a shot, this one is a good choice

Comments about Alan Gordon Enterprises 1004-HIHAT-75 Hi-Hat Support:
this isn't a bad hihat. It supports my 75mm fluid head. I even have a Fully loaded Red One camera and it holds on pretty good. Just make sure you mount it to a nice board.
To sum it up, don't try to throw it off a building or put a 10000 pound camera on it., It will probably mess up. Just keep it minimal and it will treat you well. Going to get a 100mm version soon.
Great price too!

If it were cheaper, I would give it 5 stars. It does its job, just expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for.

This is a well built 75mm bowl high hat on par with any we've rented for larger shoots. The legs stand high enough to accommodate most fluid head tiedowns easily.
I'm very happy with this purchase

This hihat work perfect for my odd shooting environments. We use this device on ladders, cars, construction equipment, railings, rooftops and more. Basically any where we can not get a conventional tripod to work, add a plate and some clamps or sand bags and you are ready to shoot.

Comments about Alan Gordon Enterprises 1004-HIHAT-75 Hi-Hat Support:
As expected, this is a very well-made hi-hat at a comparatively good price. I bought it to mount onto a custom Speedrail® dolly system that I made...and, it works great. And true to the sell copy, I was able to use my longer fluid head handle. There's just enough room to slip it into place.
What's also nice is the flexibility to mount this to another board, etc.

Comments about Alan Gordon Enterprises 1004-HIHAT-75 Hi-Hat Support:
I built a really nice ladder dolly, and this was the only thing I was missing to complete it. When you see the size description, it doesn't seem so big, but it's actually the perfect size. The camera is what makes it seem bigger once mounted on. Feels really durable and well built...oh and it's the cheapest 3 legged piece of metal amongst it's competitors.

I'm using this hi hat as part of a micro dolly rig I've built for my HDSLR. So far the hi hat is working exactly as I had hoped. It's relatively light and inexpensive. Additionally, it's great for getting low shots and ladder shots. Glad I got it.
