The Carson MicroMax LED Portable Microscope is a powerful 60-100x magnification microscope with an extremely lightweight and portable design. It features a built-in LED illumination which provides bright, clear images with superb color balance. It has a rubber eyecup for comfortable viewing. It is so small and light that it fits easily in your pocket to bring with you anywhere. Images are rendered inverted, because it does not have any prisms in the optical path (this is common to high-magnification devices).

If you get one, buy two or all the kids and some adults will be trying to get a turn to use it. It works just as advertised. There's a whole world we never see with our naked eye. The portable microscope opens that new world up.

The cover of the battery compartment has a tab to pull before you can turn the light on. I pulled it, and the cover fell off, and the batteries spilled out. After getting them back in, the cover wouldn't snap shut any more. I had to put some scotch tape over it.
So I was disappointed that 5 seconds after opening it, it was broken.
But the lenses are good, and it does what it says, so I guess it's an okay deal for a cheap little scope.

I bought two of these as gifts, and both recipiants are enjoying them. I'm not sure my son has looked at more than fabric and his sisters head, but my coworker has been using hers in during walks. Especialy identifying ticks and other critters found in our woods. She is impressed.

Works, center of image is clear, light is good, but field of view is narrow. Zoom does not seem to change magnification - more like a second focusing wheel. Not as useful as expected, but it's inexpensive and good enough see flat object at high magification.

I figured for the price that it would be a cheap/ineffective microscope.....I was wrong. This product was much better than expected. Powerful microscope, clear lens and picture and the led light helps illuminate your subject - and all at a size that fits in your pocket comfortably. I ended up buying a few others to give to colleagues.

This microscope is useful for viewing things on flat surfaces and even more free structures, such as leaves on a plant, if you can stabilize the microscope properly with your hands. The light it is very useful for viewing and the compact size is smaller than I had imagined, easily fitting in my jean pocket. It's plastic, but mine has not broken for over two weeks of use about every other day or more.

try to find something comparable to this on the net and you'll be spending many times more.
this little guy does the trick, bugs look scarey. works great for tri's. make sure to get the one w/ the led light, it's better on batteries and i think the light spectrum is truer.
you do have to have a steady hand to use it, but if you want steady, go buy a stationary micro.

This unit is very small and not very clear, if you need to look at thing really close up which is why we buy magnification equipment this is not for you. the focus is not consistent, once you focus if you change the zoom you have to refocus with a very small field of view.
