Comments about Vanguard 6x25 DM Monocular:

I wanted something small enough to carry around in a pocket and be handy for observing coastal Calif. wildlife; and satisfy my cheapskate nature. It's a good pick. Image center is bright and sharp, with a wide field of view. It's slightly bigger in diam. and heavier than I expected, but very pocketable.

The image edges are moderately distorted and unfocused, but the field is big enough that the sharp center is still pretty big. The folded rubber eyecup is perfect when placed on my glasses. With glasses off and eyecup up, the ideal position puts the cup almost a centimeter off my brow. Maybe thats my myopic vision.

I agonized over whether to buy the 6x25 unit or the 8x25 unit. I'm glad I picked the 6x25; it's brighter, has bigger exit pupil and 6 power is about right for the unsupported hand.
