The Kirk PZ-121 Quick Release Plate is an ultra-compact and lightweight quick release plate that is custom designed to snugly fit a Nikon D3 & D3x. Machined from 6061T6 industrial strength aluminum, it follows a weight-saving hollowed-out design. It also features an anti-slip lip that prevents the camera from rotating, especially during vertical shots.
This plate follows the industry-standard Arca-Swiss design, which also makes it compatible with quick release components from other manufacturers (e.g. Arca-Swiss, Acratech, Foba, Graf/Studioball, Novoflex, Wimberley, et cetera).

Kirk's plate stays on my camera and its molded-to-fit design looks good, feels good, and most of all its design keeps it from rotating at all. It stays fixed in position. A really well made and designed small piece of equipment that just looks and works great.

I was looking for a small but sturdy arca swiss compatible plate for my D3s. Was considering the L brackets but they are too big for my use - I shoot mostly animals with longer lenses (w/build in tripod supports) and prefer to save as much space and weight as it's possible. The PZ-121 gives me the freedom of using my camera with my smaller lenses (N105/2.8vr, N24-70/2.8). It fits very well on the body and has a mark showing the center of the lens/tripod support.

I bought this item to fit on my Nikon D3s so it could be used on a Kirk Ball Head when using small focal length lenses. It fits to the contours of the camera body and is a well made item. Once fitted there is absolutely no chance of any movement between the camera body and the plate. And once it's connected to the ball head there is no chance of the camera slipping out due to the two safety screws.

Well I could just spend hours photographing this with my macro lens the build quality is just superb. Very solid construction yet lightweight, anodised coating appears to be the very hardwearing kind. Perfect fit to the camera and fits well into all my (various brands) tripod heads. Leave it on your camera all the time it doesn't get in the way.
