The Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head bundles the Smith-Victor CF500 Tripod with the BH8 Ball Head. It is best suited for all SLR, advanced or large point & shoot, medium format, and full-sized video cameras. This is the largest model of carbon fiber tripod within the Smith-Victor Black Diamond series. It has high working height and weight capacity which comes with a moderate increase in overall weight and size.

The CF500 is a solid shoulder-height tripod that uses carbon fiber technology for its leg construction. Carbon fiber is significantly lighter than aluminum, yet still maintains the same support level. It will absorb vibrations better than aluminum.

This CF-series tripod features individual leg angle adjustments, a reversible center column with spring loaded weight hook, foam leg grips, It includes a padded shoulder strap and carrying case.

The Smith-Victor BH8 Ball Head with Quick Release is a rugged and well-designed ball head. All knobs feature a comfortable knurled rubber gripping surface. In addition to the large single-action locking knob, the BH8 also features two smaller knobs. One controls the 360° panning control, and the other the amount of ball friction.

The BH8 Ball Head comes with a universal quick release clamp that is compatible with all Arca-type plates. It comes with one plate, but can also be used with any of the many other industry-standard Arca-Swiss plates available from Arca-Swiss, Kirk, Wimberly, Really Right Stuff, Foba, Novoflex, etc.

For someone like me who finds himself in a variety of shooting locations, situations and uses different lenses, having the CF500 gives me confidence and assurance that I have the camera support i need whenever the occasion/situation calls for it.

It is beautifully designed and the carbon fiber makes it light enough to lug around on trips. Its ability to support 16.2 tlbs. cupled by the hook at the center column (where you can hook up weights to increase stability) works really great in landscape and wildlife shoots where the terrain can be difficult.

I always strive for tack sharp pictures so i don't leave without my Smith-Victor CF500.

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:

I needed a lightweight, durable carbon tripod to take out into the field to shoot landscape and portrait. Had to be light as I pack it into the wilderness by bike and hike and needed the 66" height. Not the lightest out there, but combo of pod/head for the price was hard to beat. If you can't handle this weight, eat less junk food and train harder! Just hiked it in and out of a 1000' elevation valley at 24% grade:) Easy to use: have set it up brilliantly on sand, coral, uneven lava, and boulders in streams - don't let other people's negative comments about threaded leg extenders vs flip versions dissuade you. Also, there is no level on the head, but so what...use my iPhone level app (have my phone ready as I'm pumping my favorite tunes off my iPod or Pandora while shooting anyway!), framing lines on the camera, and or the old trusted naked eye. You're going to photoshop it anyway. Time will tell on duarability as I'll be using it in harsh beach conditions and narly lava and cinder. But I'm pretty confident based on construction details, as I've got 20 years experience using, buying, and selling carbon and aluminum sports-tech- products

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:

Ordered the Smith-Victor CF5 off of their website. The price and features appealed to me as it was the most economical carbon fiber tripod around. [...]while it is everything I expected, I was a tad dissapointed that there is no bubble level at the HEAD of the tripod. There is a level at the point where the legs are joined and it would have been great to have oen at the top, near the camera.

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:

I looked around for a while before I found this tripod. I read the reviews and decided to buy it. I am happy I did, because the tripod is solid, its legs open and close easy and comfortably. It is light but still sturdy. I used it to take night and fireworks photos. So far, I am very pleased with the quality and overall comfort of this tripod. The price includes the ball head and quick release system. A good value for the money.

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:

I'm a very cheap person, and am always looking to find something affordable while remaining absolutely useful for my purposes. In a profession such as this, that can often bite one in the rear. It often has.

Couldn't have done better this time around, though. Upon receiving this tripod I was simply astonished at how well built and put together it was. The head is amazing, and my only gripe is that it's a little rough to move around, even with adjusting the tensioner. The tripod body is carbon fiber, and although it lacks quick releases higher end (and more expensive tripods might have) it makes up for in stability and cost.

Using this for video work, night shoots, and just about anything else is a joy. My camera remains very stable, and I've not had any problems tossing this over my shoulder when hiking around shoots. Never a slip or even a nudge.

Weight wise, being carbon fiber this is a single hander even with my 5D Mark 2 and 70-200mm f4 hanging off it. The head of course is the heaviest part, but it's incredibly sturdy and is well worth the little extra weight.

Overall, I don't think you'll find a better tripod kit (head and body) for anything near this price. Believe me, I've looked!

Steady, strong and not so heavy if you plan on traveling or backpacking with it, but you get stability in exchange. Locks are firm, not as easy as flip locks, but you don't get anything stock on them. The ball head makes a great combo for the price.

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:

It is excellent for Indoor/Outdoor/rugged terrain settings. The feet adjust accordingly.
Versatile, I can place the camera in any position I need. The ballhead provides for very smooth panning. It is also very handy for tall people, it has enough height to get the job done.

Comments about Smith-Victor CF500 66" Carbon Fiber Tripod with BH8 Ball Head:
