A speed ring is required and not included with this unit. Remember to get the best type of speed ring for the light you are using.
This Impact Large Luxbanx Softbox (36x48") is an economical large softbox for flash lighting. It features a white interior, and includes an internal and an external diffuser (both removable), which can help with refining the hard/soft ratio of your light. In addition, optional grids can be attached to the recessed front of the softbox via touch fasteners, which can be used to narrow down the spread of light.
The softbox is easily assembled using the softbox "skin", four flex rods, and a speed ring (not included) for your specific flash head. This size is great for product or still-life photos, studio set-ups, or individual and group portraits. Use only with flash, not hot lights. Speed ring required for use is not included--available separately.

Having retired my faithful Chimera SB's after 20 years of service, I replaced them with the Luxbanxs and was very impressed. In time, old soft boxes will cast an ugly green-brown hue as the nylon ages until no amount of correcting will satisfy the color cast or you're limited to just the off color boxes and correcting for them throws the "normal" lights out of color balance. The Luxbanks are well made, easy to use, dead nuts on color and integrated seamlessly into my system - so far I love'em.In addition they feature a super useful Velcro surround on the face that allows for egg crate modifiers. Wish I could find some reasonably priced. The new units fit right into my existing speed-rings for the Normans and away we go[...]Over all, looking forward to additional Impact modifiers in the near future.

The fabric is a good, soft material that rolls up easily - a big bonus if you use them on location, which is pretty much 100% of my usage. It has a much more "fabric" feel to it, not like the nylon feel of a Chimera nor the nasty and heavy naugahyde material that some other boxes use.The rods are the correct length in that they aren't too short which makes the whole thing flimsy or too long which makes assembly and disassembly a painful and annoying. The rods fit in to sewn pockets that run the full length of the box, this is a very nice feature that not all bargain boxes have. The internal diffuser is a little small in my estimation but on the other hand it hasn't shown to be a problem, so no big deal.I use my gear a lot and I more or less deem location gear to be more or less disposable and not lifelong investments. I have a lot of confidence that this is going to last me a couple years and that's more than good enough at a price point far under a Chimera. And frankly my Chimera strip box is only so so and the bigger Chimeras I've used have never made me think they were really worth the price, particularly for a smallish box in the 4 to 6 foot range. I have no hesitation to recommend this softbox.

I'm a speedlight shooter and was looking for a good light modifier to start out with that wouldnt break the bank and found this! The product was shipped with a nice carrying bag as well which now holds the light modifier, a lightstand, and a speedring that is used with this. Truly a carry case that is softbox to go!
I've only used this product once for a shoot and it was perfect. The assembly was easy and the light out of it with my canon speedlight was nice and creamy. Having this as my first softbox, im extremely pleased with it and cant wait to see what else i can do! The speedring im using with this is the Chimera Speed Ring for Canon and Nikon, and i'll be reviewing that as well.

Comments about Impact Large Luxbanx Softbox (36x48"):
I have had it only a week and really like it. Good build quality for studio use. Clean color balance. Nice velcro opening at the back for air flow. The steel rods are better than the old fiberglass ones. Lightweight design, might not be suited for heavy duty location use, but the vrdict is still out on that count. I am planning on buying the next size up soon and will make sure it is a Luxbanx as well.

I love the double diffusion, and the price is very reasonable.
I would have given this product a 5 star except part of the plastic(?) coating on the end of one of the rods broke. However, I should point out that this does not affect the functionality of the product, just that the coating is flimsy.

This is a nice size and works great easy to set up and trans port. We have to be portable and preformance has to be there. This Softbox delivors what we need at a resonable price. Quality is good and we feel it will be realiable for years.

The product is exactly as described. Easy to assemble. The rods are snug when connected in the speedring (sold separately) and works perfectly with my LiteTrek Impact series lights (adapter for the location lights sold separately as well).

As soon as I got it, I tested it and fell in love with the quality of light I captured with it. Good investment for the money. Easy to assemble. I've been using it since I got it two weeks ago, non stop, for several portrait projects. I love it many times. Just wish the bag where it came was a little longer to fit the unit folded with the flex rods.
