The Tiffen 58mm 0.6 ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 2 stop exposure reduction. This 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

I think it's very reflective and that maybe a problem. Tiffen sells a high transmission version of this filter anyway.
This was my first purchase of Tiffen products and I'm very satisfied so far

I live in southern Arizona and purchased this filter for controlling DOF in full sun. As an added bonus it really provides great color saturation. Also plan to use this for long exposure shots.

Comments about Tiffen 58mm 0.6 ND Filter:
I have and used ND filters, but I needed additional filter for my waterfall shots. Works great stacking for that "silky" look in the water. You need this filter for better photographs in bright sun conditions, snow, waterfalls. Good for stacking also to get higher ND values.

Read about ND filters and never used one before. This works perfecting on my camcorder. Really allowed me to change the focus area in bright sun by opening up the lens. I needed the background out of focus and this filter made it easy.

Great price
This filter allows for slower shutter speeds without over-exposure. Great for waterfalls!
And, as always, lightning fast service from B&H! When I knew my new lens was coming, I came right to B&H to make sure the filter arrived in good time, as well - plus I knew they'd have the best price!

Comments about Tiffen 58mm 0.6 ND Filter:
When I bought my Canon 50mm f/1.8 I quickly realized that there were a lot of shots that let too much light in; especially when taking short Depth Of Field shots. The ND filter is a good way to help get those shots. This filter has given me more flexibility, is well-constructed, and does seem to have any downsides.

This is no B&W as far as build goes but the glass will last and it serves it's perfect purpose without any discoloring whatsoever. Please buy if you need an ND Filter.

This filter is great for motion shots where you want to show that there is motion but still maintain a clear shot of the subject! Rather than risk missing that one time perfect shot while trying different settings, this helps to ensure a great shot every time. I actually use it when I am photographing active toddlers playing!
