The Tiffen 52mm 0.9 ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 3 stop exposure reduction. This 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

I'm really sorry to give a poor review on a super simple project but something doesn't seem right.
I own a videocamera with a 1/4" sensor, not friendly on getting nice shallow DOF shots. I purchased two of these so that I could stack them and use them on really bright days and to open up my iris without changing the shuter speed. (My cam is a HMC40)
For some reason, even though you cannot see it, when I stacked two of them together, my greens from the trees, became ORANGE. Yes there was a SLIGHT change in whites, but why are my greens... orange???
Since I cannot post a link to proove I'm not crazy, go to a site called pinkbike (it's a online community for mountain bikers like myself), after reaching the homepage, in the url add /photo/5414815/ to the end of it. That is my frame grabs with these filters. I don't know why this is like this at all.

Comments about Tiffen 52mm 0.9 ND Filter:
Marvelous Ziess lenses aren't any good when there's TOO MUCH LIGHT. Fortunately I had my old Canon lens with these filters. They saved the shoot. Now, to get them for the Zeiss. I'm not shooting outside without them.
Probably the .9ND and one level lower for the primes.

Comments about Tiffen 52mm 0.9 ND Filter:
I use it for shooting groups in full sun. This is the 3-stop ND filter and does the job nicely.I wish it were thinner, but then it would be over $100, so I am happy that I have no vignetting with the Tiffen on a 24mm lens.

Used to adjust exposure by 3 stopts. Works very well and I am pleased with the product. It is used on the Fuji X10, which should have this feature built in.

I use this for portraits so I can use a lower aperture for more bokeh on my 50mm f1.8 canon lens. Very simply, it does what it's supposed to

I used this product on a shoot the other day, and with it, I shot some spectacular footage. I was looking for a shallow depth of field for video on a very sunny day, and this did the trick.
Nothing not so great about it.

Comments about Tiffen 52mm 0.9 ND Filter:
Sometimes there's just too much light. If you are interested in using a slow shutter to capture motion, you need to reduce the light getting to the sensor. A neutral density filter will give you that extra reduction of a stop or so to get the shot you envision. It's sunglasses for your lens.
