Comments about Microboards 1:3 CopyWriter Pro LightScribe DVD Duplicator:
I shot an event at which I was selling photo CDs and needed a way to reproduce them quickly. I chose the 1:3 instead of duplicators that can reproduce more than 3 at a time for budget reasons. I chose a LightScribe duplicator because I think that it adds some professionalism to my business.
It performed solidly, duplicated CDs without any problems.
There are a few things you need to know before you go this route:
1. Burning the labels takes a long time. You want to have some time when you can stick the label sides in and burn them while you're doing something else.
2. Double burning helps a lot. After you finish burning a label side, burn it again, it will greatly improve the contrast. I don't know how it does it, but out of 50 CDs it only misaligned on one of them.
3. To save more time burning labels you might want to burn your name, company, phone number, whatever, in a ring around the center, then design your customer/content specific label to go outside of that. This would save time if you've got the time to stick CDs into the burner and do something else while it works.
4. If while burning your first label the "Preview and Print" button isn't available, just call Microboards tech support. They need to flip a bit in your registry, it's fast and easy. Just let them take control of your computer and do it for you, it'll take less time than explaining that you're perfectly comfortable hacking your registry.
5. When you go to your local retailer to buy blank LightScribe media, make sure it says "LightScribe" on it. "Inscriptible" is French for "you can burn your own data to the shiny side of the disc".
Even though I've listed a bunch of things about this product I'm happy with it and would buy it again. If I get to the point where I need to duplicate more than 3 at a time I'm likely to buy another Microboards product.
In my review I checked "Easy to set up", it would have been if I had called and gotten the bit flipped earlier. Some people don't have this problem.

Comments about Microboards 1:3 CopyWriter Pro LightScribe DVD Duplicator:
Works like it said except with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. The computer could "see" the duplicator but the files would not work when copied. The lightscribe software on that same system did not work. Changed to a Win XP laptop and everything worked perfectly. Tech support is still working on the problem, they are trying and you get to talk to a real person!
