Zacuto makes fine products and the zip gears are right up there. I've products like the zip gear that originated in India only to have them break at the most inopportune times.

I purchased these gears for a DIY project. They were exactly as described and the price was decent. The project turned out great in no small part to these gears.
If you need a strip of gears that will fit a standard FF these will do the trick. The fact is, I couldn't find anything at all like this out there on the web. It is this or nothing. I'm glad they worked out well.
Zacuto has a habit of putting out great but insanely expensive gear. If you have a need to replace the gears on your Zacuto zip gears then these are a surprisingly affordable.

I needed this so to make my TV zoom lens work with my Follow Focus.
Zoom lens did not have cine gear on it, so I used Zacuto's item. You just cut it to fit the diameter of the lens. Then you can use a small piece of this gear, flipped over, as a lock to hold the gear in place.
Personally, I just glued the gear to my lens with Crazy Glue. Looks indistinguishable from the professional gear, functions just fine. Love it. Buy this item if you are handy!
I took one star down for the fact that the tiny buckle Zacuto sells for it is way expensive. So you have to make your won, or glue the gear down.

I've used these with an Arri follow focus on my set of NIKKOR lenses on Canon 5D Mark II for film and ad shoots . They work great and offer an excellent price-to-quality ratio. I tend to be very picky, but I can't name any disadvantages to using this item.

Comments about Zacuto Z-ZG-16R ZipGear Strand:
i was hoping that this gear would be wider for better engagement tolerances but nevertheless,if you setup your follow focus correctly, this would work well and shouldn't give you any problem. It has a industry standard pitch of 0.8 so it is compatible with almost all the follow focus units in the market now.just one thing to note,it might get slippery on your focus/zoom ring on your lens due to the smooth plastic texture on the underside of the zipgear. You can simply cut a piece of soft rubber to sandwich between the lens ring and the zipgear to provide more traction and provides more clearance when using certain lens that are short in length and might have problems with some follow focus unit. This comes in a longer length than what most lens would need and customizing the length is easy.Overall, this is a great gear for its price, reasonable and easy to use.Get it all for your lens!

Comments about Zacuto Z-ZG-16R ZipGear Strand:
One of Zacuto's cheapest products, though the connectors are expensive. I like the design of the zip gears as they are low profile and allow me to put more lenses in my bag. These, in my opinion, are quicker and easier to use than full size zip gears and work great for those who use alot of retro lenses with odd sizes.
