The Control 2P from JBL is a stereo speaker system that provides high-quality audio in a compact design, ideal for home, project, or mobile studios. Each speaker has a 5.25" woofer and a 0.75" dome tweeter to provide clear audio with a wide frequency response. An internal amplifier provides 35W per channel for powerful performance.
The system offers XLR, 1/4", and RCA input connectors, allowing you to connect to virtually any audio system or device. An ergonomic side-mounted volume control lets you adjust the volume of both speakers simultaneously. A stereo headphone jack is provided for private monitoring.
The system also has a high frequency adjustment control to tailor the response to your needs. An internal peak limiter and overload protection circuit prevent overloads and distortion. The speakers are magnetically shielded for safe use near video monitors and other electronics. Snap-on pedestals are included to provide an optimal listening angle for desktop applications. The speakers can also be wall-mounted using an optional mounting kit, sold separately.

Comments about JBL Control 2P 5.25" 2-Way Powered Speaker (Pair):
I use these monitors for near field listening in my hone studio, they provide a great sound for the size which for me size was very important.
The one nit I have is running that twin lead copper cable to the non powered speaker. In my opinion both monitors should be powered.

Comments about JBL Control 2P 5.25" 2-Way Powered Speaker (Pair):
Used for computer speakers for my amateur music hobby ("band in a box" etc).
Nice product with sturdy design and overall good sound. Not huge on bass (as to be expected from the small drivers) but great mid and high.
The reason It got 3 and not 4 stars is that the speakers I got were clearly an "open box" situation. I don't know if this was B&H's doing or coming from the JBL distributor (more likely) I can see light scratch marks near the rear circuitry access panel where someone used a screwdriver to open and look at the wiring post production. This is because the unit had a funny connection in the XLR that was interfering with the RCA jacks (as I found out) that seemed to clear after plugging and unplugging a 1/4 jack in/out a few times. I don't have time or shipping expenses to waste in returning this, and since the unit is working fine I have decided to keep it.
The other issue is that there is a distinct high pitch whine when the RCA is connected to my computer (even with the computer off and 110V plug disconnected) Its likely picking up some enviromental AC current as an antenna but I am not sure if its a design issue with the built in amp.

Comments about JBL Control 2P 5.25" 2-Way Powered Speaker (Pair):
If you want high-quality studio monitors, these are not for you. They suffice as audio monitors for my PC. I'm disappointed because the specifications imply that they are 35 W per side, but they are not. There is one 35 W amp in one speaker and it powers them both. The high-end is weak. I can only say these speakers are very average.

Comments about JBL Control 2P 5.25" 2-Way Powered Speaker (Pair):
I had intended to use these to replace my two 30W Roland Cubes because the JBLs are much smaller and lighter. I interpreted the specs to be 35 watts a side, which would have been more than enough power for my needs.
I'm not an electronics guru, but to the best of my observations, there is really just one 35W amp in the powered side of the pair, which attaches to the NON-powered pair. To my calculations this adds up to about 17 Watts / side, and this is how they sound.
I decided not to return them. I use them to
A: Add to TV output;
B: as PC speakers; and
C: As monitors for my home recording set up.
This is what they were designed to do and if you don't need a lot of power, they produce a clean and honest sound.
Some confusing/negative issues:
When you plug the headphones in, the normal output is overriden. The 1/4 inch inputs are described on the unit as "balanced" but they're merely right and left inputs to the amp, so there is nothing "balanced" about them.
The connecting speaker wire for the non-powered unit could have been longer.
