  • Removable Padded Divider Walls

  • Padded, Contoured Sling Strap

The Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black) is a water-resistant ripstop nylon bag that can be converted from a quick-draw shooting bag to a long lens bag. It has movable padded divider walls within the bag that allow the "quick-draw" compartment to be fitted precisely to the main camera/lens combination, and also create additional spaces for extra bodies, lenses and accessories. These walls can be completely removed, turning the sling into a vertically-oriented long lens bag. In this configuration the camera with lens is loaded straight down through the bag via the large top door. This bag can carry 1-2 digital SLR camera bodies with 1-2 lenses, accessories and a tripod/monopod or digital SLR with attached lens up to 300mm f/2.8.

The sling bag is carried on the back with a single, contoured padded cross-chest strap. This allows it to be swung around in front of the photographer, providing access to a camera with mounted lens, for fast shooting right out of the bag. It has a full-access back panel that can be opened to fully expose the interior for setup, loading and cleaning. The bag uses weather-sealed YKK zippers on all outside openings.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black):

This shootout series bag is terrific. The size is perfect for my DSLR, 1 extra lens, filters, flash and accessories. The Shootout Series, in my opinion, is the top of the line for Tenba as they are sleek, resilient and comfortable.

Went through so many bags, couldn't find the right one. This is the one. Fits a medium dslr with medium lens attached. A body, short lens, flash. Top compartment fits a pocket camera or a long lens. It works. Highly recommended.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black):

I got this bag for my recent trip to Europe to go along with my Tenba Shootout Backpack. I used this one as my every day travel bag while the bigger one stayed in our apartment holding all of the equipment I didn't need while sight seeing. It worked really well, was comfortable, gave me easy access to my items when needed but was "locked down" enough that I didn't have to worry about pickpockets or anything. This will be my go to bag on mini-trips and short jaunts. I LOVE Tenba bags!

I bought this bag to take with me on my trip to Europe along with my larger sized Tenba bag. I figured this one would be what I carried around daily while the other stayed back in our apartment. It was comfortable, allowed me to be hands free, but not worry about someone trying to pickpocket me. It carried everything I needed and will be my go to bag for all of my short jaunts. I LOVE Tenba bags!

Comments about Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black):

I was looking for a walkabout, smallish sling for an upcoming trip; it will serve as my carry-on on a plane, needed for museums and city walking, and it also needs to carry my tripod or mononpod. I also considered the Lowepro 102 sling (purchased and returned) and the Kata 3N1 (I own the large Kata 3N1-33 which also holds a laptop but it's too big for this trip). The Tenba won out over the Lowepro: more comfortable when fully loaded, great and sturdy construction, better zippers, more space. I also own the tripod holder for the large Kata but it straps to the back of the Kata bags and not the side, which was a criteria for this trip.

I enjoy having a tripod/monopod on the side of the bag as it won't add depth to it in confined and crowded spaces. The Tenba Shootout Slign is very easily configurable and I really like that the back unzips completely to facilitate setup even more. I have a Canon 40D and 28-135 lens, Sigma 10-20 with hood and other small items going with me and it all fits with room to spare (I could fit my 75-300 if so desired); I've even removed a divider or two which were unnecessary for me. Fully loaded and optimally adjusted, it's a really comfortable bag. And it slings around so I don't have to put it down.

Only a couple of minor drawbacks with it however: the pod straps are too close together, and if there's no padding on the pod, the pod tends to slip through the straps no matter how tight you get them. A trick I learned is to tape a piece of pipe insulation around one or several legs to so the straps can grab onto something - it works well and it no longer slips! The other minor complaint is that there could be a few more pockets to store small stuff.

Overall, I'm very satisfied and I'm expecting many years of use out of this bag.

I will be using this bag while hiking, walking, and being out and about. I disliked a regular backpack and camera bag as it took entirely too long to access and swap a lens. This bag works perfectly. Easy access and tons of ways to arrange the internal configuration.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black):

What I like about Tenba stuff in general is that their gear is innovative and of good quality. Construction is neat and sturdy. Several points of access make it versatile. Rubber secured zippers are sturdy but that's their nature - they have to be or they wouldn't be weatherproof. Rain apron included - big plus. Tripod/monopod holder definitely could use improvement - compression straps do not open so you have to loosen them all the way and insert tripod inside the loops and compress. It works fine with monopod but attaching small tripods will make you crazy. I have also some issues with upper compartment. Tenba claims you can fit a second SLR in it. Perhaps Olympus E420 with the 25mm "pancake" lens. Otherwise can be tough.
Overall this is a nice gear bag with probably best application in urban photojournalism. And make sure you get the bigger version. It's slightly more expensive but makes a difference.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Sling Bag, Small (Black):

I selected this camera bag to stow a Nikon D300, 17-55mm Nikor Lens, and 12-24mm Nikor Lens. This bag is the medium size bag and while it's okay, it is long. I'm using it every day, but it does not work too well for my application (I carry my camera with me every day). From all the photos it appears you just pop your camera with lens in the top flap and get quick access. That is all true, however, my camera has the Nikon battery grip mounted on the bottom of the camera. It doesn't slide in and out so good. The bag is beautifully made and it does all it says it will do. Just not with the battery grip attached. It works, but it's not a quick in and out with the battery grip, camera and lens.
