Comments about Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 II:

While some people reviewing this printer have had problems with it, so far it's been flawless for us. We're a small manufacturing company and this printer is used by our CNC & Quality departments for printing CAD drawings, signs, labels, etc.

So far it hasn't given us any trouble. It's only jammed twice in a year and a half of heavy use, and it is regularlly used for odd sized prints and thick labels. We got about 9 months out of our first black toner and we've only replaced one of the color toner units so far (though the other two will be due soon). When we first got the machine it took far too long to warm up for a print job, but after disabling the sleep mode it has been far quicker. It still has an energy save mode, but it only takes 10-15 seconds to come out of it instead of a minuite like the deep sleep mode.

All in all I'm very satisfied with this printer, the print quality is exceptional, with better detail than our $10k Konica Minolta copier. The only problem another user listed which I agree with is the manual print mode. I don't know why it wants you to print before putting the paper in the manual feed, but you can still print manually that way, it just requires a couple of button presses.

Comments about Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 II:

Broke down after 18 months and cost $500 to fix. It's a loud printer, even when on idle. It seems like such a waste of energy. The start cycle to print is the same as when you turn on the machine, so we just keep it off. Who designs those things anyway?Quality is fine. From the start, paper gets stuck often for no reason. Initial setup complicated and had to call support many times and waster countless hours. They are helpful though when you do talk to them, except after the 1 year warranty.

Comments about Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 II:

This printer takes forever to start up, going through an exceptionally noisy "calibration" process. Whenever it jams, and it will, it makes you wait while it repeats the long start-up sequence.

On ours, manual feed almost never works. Apparently, the print job must be sent to the printer BEFORE the paper is placed in the slot, else it refuses to print.

The first one we had was replaced by Konica under warranty almost as soon as we acquired it, because their factory repair tech had no idea how to fix it, having never seen one before.

Also, while it produces nice if somewhat subdued color, it positively mangles and wrinkles #10 business size envelopes and is utterly unusable for them.

Comments about Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 II:

Based on first impressions, this is an excellent, low-cost color printer for 11x17 output. I have had great results with Konica-Minolta copiers/printers, so I expect the Magicolor printer will be good, too. Just be sure to consider the space and power requirements.
