This plate is the companion piece to the top plate that makes a sensible solution to the problem of mounting a wireless receiver box. Its important to me that my hot shoe is available for mounting a light. The plate keeps the receiver out of the way and moves the additional weight over the camera's center of gravity. Other types of mounts I own place the receiver on top of the camera and forward of the center of gravity, making the camera unbalanced. Positioning the receiver under the camera also makes using the rain cover possible. This plate make mounting a tripod quick release plate possible.
