Comments about Shure PG42USB Cardioid Condenser Vocal Microphone with USB Connection:

I use this microphone almost daily for my work, and I am absolutely blown away by the performance. When I took it out of the box I was amazed by the high quality carry case it came with. Not only that, but it also came with a very nice shock mount as well! for the price just those 2 things and a regular mic would suit me enough, but this isn't a regular mic. This mic can handle just about anything you throw at it. the 15db pad is great for instruments and very noisey places, i haven't got it to clip with this mode on! The gain dial on the side is super useful along with the LED showing when you're clipping. I don't use the headphone output since my headphones run to my computer, but it is nice to have there. The bass rolloff switch is great for when I am near a lot of electrical wire, it can just cut the humming noise right out.

Overall this mic, for the price, is an absolute steal. Pretty much pro quality audio from a pro quality company. 100% recommend this for voice centered work.

Comments about Shure PG42USB Cardioid Condenser Vocal Microphone with USB Connection:

I suggested the mic for a female VO artist, and while it's quiet and has great transient response, I think the PG27 would have been a better choice for her voice. The upper end boost was a little overbearing. Male voices on the otherhand, should really cut through.
        Nice suspension mount included.

I plugged this mic into my MacBook Pro and it just works right out of the box. The audio is remarkably clean. Stop messing around with those $ dollar usb mics and get this Shure, it's a great value.

Comments about Shure PG42USB Cardioid Condenser Vocal Microphone with USB Connection:

As a college student heading towards the professional field of video/audio production I've always wanted to purchase a microphone for my growing home studio to do voice-overs.

I played around with the idea of buying an XLR mic, mixer, and digital converter for my MacBook Pro laptop, but then turned my search towards USB mics. I've used USB mics before, but found their poor frequency response and flimsy build disconcerting. Fortunately, this microphone is NOTHING like my previous experiences with USB audio. My voice-overs come through clear, crisp, and have presence above my video tracks.

I'm thoroughly impressed with this microphone, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a professional edge on their work. 5/5 stars

              Product: Shure PG42USB

              Purpose: Used for recording vocals/singing

Review: This is one awesome mic; highly recommended! I picked this up after getting frustrated with a much cheaper NADY USB condenser mic. Yea, I know, not even in the same league, but wow, what a difference.

I'm not a professional by any means. I'm just a hobby singer/audio creator. This mic records very clearly and allows direct plug-in of headphones into it's side headphone port for vocal monitoring with 0 latency (awesome). Also you won't have the mono or one channel not recording at full strength with this USB mic. It worked perfectly right out of the box.

              Recording/Sound System Setup:
              - Acoustica Mixcraft 5 (audio creation software)
              - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit running off a solid state hard drive
              - Creative X-Fi PCI-express sound card
              - Sennheiser HD595 headphones (to hear background music/instrumentals)
              - Shure SE535 earbuds (used as in ear vocal monitors only)

I'm using this mic as a portable device for Voice Overs. It has a warm sound and the features are great - headphone output with volume and mic gain. I have no complaints and could rival my sound booth at home with a Sennheiser 416
