I gave these 4 stars because the bass is just too overwhelming, the mids are weak, and they don't have much volume. My little $7 ear buds are louder than these headphones easily but these are nicely isolated and comfortable with higher quality sound than the ear buds. If you use an EQ you can get things to sound quite nice but straight out of the box I was not too impressed with the balance of the frequencies. They are very comfortable and feel very durable and also fold up nicely and fit easily in the pouch that comes with it. The cable/cord and 1/4" adapter seem to be nice quality although I have not used them very long to see how they will hold up. They did work quite well for playing live as in-ears won't stay in my ears and these Aviom systems have such a direct signal coming from each instrument that is plugged into them anyway I usually just get all mid-rangy to annoying high end frequencies. These headphones smoothed that right out and because the Avioms don't really put out any real quality bottom end (at least with the in-ears I have used) these headphones worked great and the bass was not overwhelming for that application . For the price the quality is great and for using on stage with Aviom systems or other monitoring devices I think they are perfect but for kicking back and listening to music I would not recommend them unless you don't mind having an equalizer preset specifically for these phones every time you use them. At least that's my experience

I use headphones for casual music and movies with my laptop. After one week of use, i find the sound to be ok with no real discomfort and provides nice clarity for a wide variety of music. However, the bass is not deep enough sometimes. There is however some bass and i cant say it is totally lacking. I read from other reviews that the real sound comes out after a burn-in period of 1 month approx. ..so will wait n see. I like the folding design but not the long cord.WRT comfort, it is firm and fits all sizes but gets really hot around the ear in abt 5 mins. none of the other reviewers pointed this out.Overall i feel it is a good buy for [$], and can live with the cons for now. no 5 stars for the heating issue.

I actually used these for my trip last week and they worked great. good sound and comfortable to wear. I watched two movies back to back on my flight without any discomfort. Yes, it is a long cord, but it wasn't intended to be used as a "portable" headphone. I just used a twist tie to coil up the excess.
One last note, they fold in for easier portability, but this design also makes wearing them around your neck a little less comfortable.

I bought ATH-M35 for a kick around headphones to use at home to use instead of my good studio set where sound is not that critical like falling asleep at bedtime

I bought this headphone to use with a guitar amplifier. They are woefully inadequate for that purpose, they simply don't have the range/response for it. They do fine for listening to recorded music. It's my fault for buying this set for the intended use so I can't slam the product too badly. They are very comfortable and the builfd quality is good.

If you are looking for a high performance inexpensive pair of headphones look no further. I watched a movie, & listened to music on a long flight. I listen to everthing from jazz to hip hop. I am amazed at all the sounds that I was missing.

I use this headphones for monitoring sound while editing video. I have previously used a pair of Sonys that cost double the price. The Sonys had a tinny sound and poor build quality.
The Audio Technicas sound great and balanced. They are comfy on my big ears. They also feel very sturdy. The folding design is nice as well.
My only issue is that the cord length is long for my useage. Also, I had to remove the thing case from my iPhone to get these in all the way.

After being asked for Dr Dre headphones (200+) & seeing they got very mixed reviews I did a search and found these consistently rating high. My 12 year old nephew loved them and I think they'll serve him well. Nicely built & should stand up to his use/abuse. I listened to them via iPod. Sounded good to me. Not too gassy. But it was a short listen. B&H had the best price at the time too.

I edit videos at home and wear these to hear the sound more clearly. They do the trick. Also, they are clear for shooting video.
They don't cancel out too much surrounding noise, like someone else watching tv in the same room.
For the price, they are a good value, lightweight, and very comfortable. I love them!

Great sound/quality for this price point. In fact, they sound way better than plain Bose headphones that cost $ .Best for home use or extended travel because of the incredibly long cable. I keep my cable wrapped up with a twist tie most of the time but the length is handy for home listening if your stereo is far from the couch, for example.Folds up compactly and comes with a nice drawstring bag.

Good for "prosumer" recording/sound editing. Also perfect headphones for creating an immersive environment for listening to quality music and watching films.
The fact that they are collapsible is an added bonus.
They are a little heavy. And the passive noise reduction means they press a little more on your ears. Yet due to the quality sound and the reasonable price, these factors are easily overlooked.

Not an expert here, but for the price I paid, this was perfect for listening to mp3 on my laptop. Nice bass sound, the mids and highs are real clear. Also very comfortable. The bass could be improved I imagine, I had to fiddle with the equalizer to get the best bass out of it, but it's no biggie, I'll buy it again.

What I most like of them:
- The audio jack,
- how robust they seem,
- that they can be folded and come with a nice leather bag to store them and
- how I can hear the bass drum all the time.

• How I use this product:
I use this product to hook up to my Roland Electric Drum Set
• Quality of sound:
This headset isn't bad for the price. I think the sound is pretty decent
and it has decent depth. However, I would like to see an option for volume control on the ear piece itself. It's not quite loud enough with certain things. Overal, I would give the sound quality a 7 out of 10.
• Pros:
It's lightweight so you don't notice it weight down your head. The cord is plenty long enough. They fold up pretty nice for those of you who need compact travel. Decent bass output.
• Cons:
No volume control on ear piece. Ear piece is a little small and you may have trouble covering your ear. The price is pretty good for what you get. If you want to look like a modern robot DJ with laser beams coming out of your eyes, these aren't them... they're pretty plain looking, but that really doesn't bother me, I care more about the sound quality.
I would recommend these. Overall I give them an 8 - 10!

The reasons bought these headphones were:(1) Great sound for under $100 -- they consistently ranked among the best "budget" headphones. (I don't know whose budget we're talking about; I am a poor graduate student and [$] is nothing to sneeze at.)(2) Low enough impedance (an MP3 player isn't going to have enough power to drive these, but they sound fine with my computer).(3) Portability. These things are sturdy and come with a leather pouch for traveling. There are slightly better headphones, audio-quality-wise, in this price range, but they are not meant to be moved. (In particular, the Grado sr60i and sr80i.)(4) Comfort. They feel fine on my head. They're not that heavy. I can wear them and wear glasses at the same time.If you were looking to spend something more in the $20-$30 range, check out some of the lower end models from Sennheiser.
